⛲️Newly reopened and absolutely stunning! A beautiful and uniquely Washington experience, perfect for photos, weddings, picnics or quiet meditation. Located just north of the White House, Meridian Hill Park (Malcolm X Park) is one of Washington, DC’s most beautiful hidden gems. Dramatic cascading fountain, elegant Italian-inspired terraces, reflecting pool, a Joan of Arc statue, and sweeping city views make it feel more like a European garden than an urban park. This park is well worth a visit.

The fountain working again is awesome. Worth the visit just for that. However, the trash cans were overflowing and it's pretty clear more work is needed. That said, the wife and I played a nice game of Scrabble here while killing a couple of hours.

Beautiful place. Water fountains. Lots of grass. Walk trails. Nice place to walk your dog(s) or ride your bike. So many benches and shaded areas to sit and relax, even lil nook like places to read your book/kindle.

The water is finally back after years of hiatus, and Meridian Hill Park can once again show off its true beauty. We visited on May 15, 2026, and both the lower pool and the iconic tiered waterfall were flowing again. It’s absolutely beautiful . There are plenty of scenic spots and seating areas throughout the park to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. Some areas are still under restoration. The lawn is fenced off for rehabilitation, and several wooden benches are being repaired. Honestly, it has taken far too long for the revitalization to finally happen, but I’m really happy to see the park finally getting the care and attention it deserves. Bring your friends and family and visit right now, especially with the water features back on again!

Meridian Hill Park is, still, under construction. It's been years since this undertaking has begun. It's sad actually. The upper tier of the park is surprisingly run down. The midfields are bare of grass and muddy. Years back, it was sectioned off so that soccer players and countless dogs and people would not trample the new grass. Apparently, it was a failure. This park is deserving of a complete upgrade. It does not take a decade to do so.
