Every aspect of my dealing with Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington was informative, hospitable, and professional. I would & will refer people to contact Murphy’s when their need arises. Christina Prue made all arrangements thoughtful and appropriate. Thank you, Christine!

We worked with Polly at Murphy Funeral Homes to plan the cremation for a family member. I appreciated her warmth and kindness and understanding of our needs and concerns. They made the process easy and had options for everything we would need. Highly recommend this business.

Overall experience was very good but not perfect. Staff was attentive and helpful. In particular, staff worked well with another out of state funeral home in receiving the remains. Staff was very helpful in preparing and posting the obituary and in assisting with audio/visual issues. The food served was very good. However, the room temperature was very cold during the visitation and memorial service. Also, there was some confusion about which facility would be used for the services since Murphy’s has two funeral homes in the same vicinity. In general we had a positive experience dealing with Murphy’s Funeral Homes.

My mother died and we chose Murphy Funeral Home on Wilson Blvd in Arlington VA. Christina Prue was professional, kind, compassionate and thorough in guiding us through this very difficult process. It was during the Christmas Holiday and even though she had her own family to attend to, she took all the time needed both in planning and then executing the service and making sure my mom was given the respectful ending she deserved. My mother was not in the best health physically from years of illness yet they also managed to make her look like her former self for the viewing. Everyone was amazed that she looked better than she had in years. I can't thank Christina enough for helping us achieve the peaceful closure we needed in an extremely painful time.

As a funeral professional myself, I find it hard to sometimes step outside of my professional brain especially when it comes to services of my family members. While at my uncles service- pulling up the outside was gross. It wouldn't have taken more than 15 minutes to sweep the front entrance and walk ways from their mulch pouring over, and their crepe myrtle trees. Being that a following event took place outside I would think that cleaning up where people are going to be would be on some sort of radar of the manager or director. There was also tape under the railings for some reason while walking up. The guy at the front "greeting" may have been too busy socializing with the receptionist to notice. The chapel chairs are extremely small as well- though these are average chairs and this was and above average size crowd to be fair. When I had also called a few weeks back to ask if it was going to be a true memorial service- with an urn, photos, or if a casket was going to be present, I got no information but the timing of events. Either having a director call me back, say you aren't the best to speak with, or can't give out that information would have been a better response then what this receptionist said and her inflection with it. Over all the immediate family is pleased and that's what matters and my uncle's service was nice, which is why my review is 3 stars. I do wish the director and staff paid more attention to some of details, worn their name tags so you knew they weren't a guest, and answered the phone better. You don't know who's calling, who's coming, or what their relationship is.
