Super dirty, trash everywhere

Very nice somber respectful park and memorial in remembrance of the people who lost their lives that day. Very sad, but a nice place to come and sit and contemplate.

At the entrance of a community garden is a truly local memorial honoring the victims, survivors and first responders of the 2009 Metro crash between the Takoma and Fort Totten Stations. It’s an open park so go any time. It’s open 24/7. There’s a plaque that talks about the memorial, a quote and nine pillars honoring the nine victims.

WE STOPPED & PRAYED! that day.read on! This is a memorial for the people who passed away in the worst accident in metros history. On that Day, that same train ride, my friend & I ,both got off at Takoma Park metro to walk to a friend's house. She had wanted to pickup us at the Fort Totten metro. But we got off '1' stop before!. Because the metro was so crowded & it was a beautiful day! We decided to walk to her house. As we walked we could hear the noise the crash, then we saw the smoke, then we heard the sirens. We were shocked & looked at each other, stopped & WE PRAYED!!!!!& cried. For those still on that train & hope they will survive, what we just heard!
