Very racist energy here. This is a beautiful cemetery and I happened to stop by with a scooter, not knowing they weren’t allowed. I was confronted by a man with blonde hair who told me to “get my scooter out of the way” and asked, “who do you have that’s buried here?” I’m a historical preservationist, and this is exactly what I seek to dismantle — white people’s entitlement over places of rest. I’d advise any person of color to consider burying their loved ones elsewhere.

Prospect Hill Cemetery is one of three cemeteries in a cluster on a hill in Bloomingdale. Four years after its neighbor, Glenwood Cemetery, Prospect Hill Cemetery opened in 1858 for the German immigrant community in Washington, D.C. It's still a working cemetery today with amazing views of the city.
