+JMJ Monday, 9.9.2024 Visited this cemetery the 16th of March 2013 when I lived in Richmond VA. Visiting cemeteries is a favorite past-time because all cemeteries offer a serene experience and lots of unspoken history. This particular cemetery is very expansive and has many headstones that feature photos of the beloved deceased. Didn't realize I hadn't submitted a review or posted photos. My memory of this visit is that I wanted to take a photo of every grave marker and memorial as I searched for very old markers. Also, visiting is a very personal opportunity to pray for all those interned. Being from Texas I have no relations herein but as we are all brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, everyone becomes my family member in the spirit. If one has an opportunity to visit Washington DC and happens to pass near this cemetery, it would be a worthwhile stop. Blessings to all!

Glenwood Cemetery sits on top of a hill in Bloomingdale next two other cemeteries- Prospect Hill and St. Mary's. Glenwood is the largest of the three and built in 1854.
This cemetery is great for a stroll to reflect on life. It's on a hill providing beautiful views of the city skyline. If you go in the fall, the leaves are stunning!

Glenwood Cemetery is a really interesting DC historic site. It’s a really unique place to go for a walk. Note the large carved trees, views of the Basilica and blossoms. It’s a little spooky and quiet but worth the visit!
Closes at dark, follow posted signs. Saw someone walking their dog here.
