Hospice of the Chesapeake

I’m new and so far they’ve been really helpful with every hurdle. It’s really hard being seriously ill and homebound. They’ve helped me through the system and have taken my health seriously. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

After years of tears and struggle with my mom with dementia, Chesapeake Hospice has come through for us in an amazing way. The care the medical professionals exhibit is second to none. The team is committed to providing care for both the client as well as the caregiver. I can’t say enough! Showers, medication advice, and progression of this awful disease, have become less stressful and my attitude has improved significantly due to the team who is always available to answer questions and provide support when things fall apart (as they do). I highly recommend this Agency and staff for assisting with end of life care for loved ones.

We were promised a beautiful caring picture of the care my mom would receive. That was all it was. The “services” they promised were far superior to what was actually received. I can’t even begin to explain the disappointment. If I could give a zero rating, that’s what I would do. We had to call and complain multiple times, then more promises that were not fulfilled. We would receive wrong medication. The social worker made promises of help that were never fulfilled. The aides never showed up. We did our own research & found multiple services that should have been offered, but no. The list goes on and on, horrible service.

I agree with last few reviews. What was presented to us and the services that were provided to my mom & family are two different things. Far below expectations. The home health aide never showed up & then lied and told staff that she did. We never received our anticipated “starter kit”…the list goes on. They have been a total disappointment and not helpful to us during this very hard time for my mom & family.

My experience with this agency has gotten off to a rocky start. I thought Hospice care for my loved one would be a peaceful and orderly experience but it has not happened that way. The initial representative made a good presentation but the team care that she described did not happen, and has not been what was presented. There is a real disconnect in communication with the service presented and what is being given. No order or consistency in scheduling and changing of nurses. At this point I think it will be best for me to care for my loved one myself and keep my house peaceful than to deal with so much inconsistency with service.
