My sister has been a resident of 4 North for several years. I'm pretty satisfied with her care. The staff has always shown to have genuine concern for her well being. I have never experienced rudeness , disrespect or lack of caring from any staff member.

I visited this facility in September with my wife to see my sister-in-law, who resided here for approximately a year. Unfortunately, the conditions and level of care were deeply disappointing.
From the moment I entered, there was a strong and persistent odor of urine and feces throughout the floor. The cleanliness was unacceptable and immediately raised concerns about sanitation and patient care. The room my sister-in-law shared was extremely cramped and felt more like a storage or utility space than a proper living area.
There were also serious medical concerns. During her stay, my sister-in-law developed severe bed sores, resulting in open wounds. This should have been identified and addressed early by medical and nursing staff, and its progression raises serious questions about monitoring and care standards.
I do want to recognize Robbie Clarke, who was professional, supportive, and responsive when my wife contacted him regarding concerns. He took the time to help and ensured our requests were addressed. I would also like to acknowledge a female security officer who went above and beyond by delivering a pizza my wife ordered for her sister. That level of kindness and professionalism stood out.
Unfortunately, those positive interactions do not outweigh the overall experience. Many staff members appeared disengaged or unprofessional, and the facility did not meet reasonable expectations for cleanliness, dignity, or medical oversight.
I am relieved my family member is no longer there. I truly hope conditions improve for the residents who remain and that the employees who genuinely care are supported. As it stands, I would not recommend this facility to others.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the unacceptable conditions and treatment my aunt received at Unique Rehabilitation & Health Center. The issues we encountered during her stay were not only unprofessional but also dangerous to her health and well-being.
First and foremost, the facility consistently had a strong odor of urine and feces, creating an unsanitary and unsafe environment. Additionally, the staff repeatedly demonstrated unprofessional behavior. My aunt, who is bed bound and fully dependent on staff assistance for daily activities, was treated with a lack of respect and compassion. Staff members frequently ignored her bedside call button, leaving her without necessary care for extended periods.
More distressing, several incidents involving theft occurred during her stay. Staff went through her delivered packages, opened boxes without permission, and stole candy and personal items. Even more alarming, her lockbox key was taken, and her debit card was stolen and used to make unauthorized charges totaling over $100. This breach of trust and security is completely unacceptable.
On several occasions, the facility claimed that her packages had not arrived, despite delivery notifications confirming they had. Only after repeated calls would staff “locate” the items, which often turned up opened. This pattern clearly indicates mishandling or intentional tampering with her belongings.
Because my aunt is bed bound, she relies entirely on the staff to reposition her and assist with hygiene. The neglect she experienced resulted in the development of severe bedsores, ultimately requiring hospitalization. This level of neglect is inexcusable and reflects a dangerous failure by your staff to provide even the most basic standard of care.
Based on these experiences, I would never recommend Unique Rehabilitation & Health Center to anyone. No family should have to worry about the safety, dignity, or well-being of their loved ones in a place that is supposed to care for them. If I could give this facility zero stars, I would.
I expect this complaint to be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. I request a written response outlining the steps your facility will take to address these issues and ensure no other resident experiences the same mistreatment.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

I was blessed and honored to share time at the Unique Rehabilitation Center today with members of my church- New Home Baptist/Landover, Maryland. I was also able to share handmade Holiday cards that were made by students from Bunker Hill Elementary School in NE Washington, DC
