Sunrise of Chevy Chase

Sunrise of Chevy Chase is an attractive, nicely decorated facility that is kept very clean. It is not an overly large building, which makes it easy to navigate. There is ample natural lighting, and the spaces are open and inviting. We are VERY happy with the staff, who are professional, attentive and caring. We DO wish there were more staff available, however! Outdoor patio spaces can be difficult to access because the doors cannot be attended at all times. There are regular and varied social activities scheduled, which are generally well attended (our loved one is not a very social person so we don’t have a lot of feedback to give there). The food is on a par with other Assisted Living experiences I have had—nothing special. Potential residents with specific dietary restrictions/ requirements should carefully review the typical offerings.

We recently moved our grandmother from a less-than-ideal rehab center into Sunrise of Chevy Chase 5 months ago, and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made for her well-being—and our peace of mind. From the start, the team went above and beyond to make what is usually a complicated and emotional process as smooth as possible. They worked swiftly to get the necessary paperwork done, and the Director of Sales (Sharonda Bey) even spent over an hour on the phone with us—on a weekend—making sure everything was in place. That kind of dedication is rare, and it really set the tone for what we’ve come to expect from this community. Since moving in, Grandma has been treated with nothing but dignity, kindness, and genuine care. The care team lead by Marlyn Hughes is incredibly communicative and always available to answer questions or provide updates. It’s clear they truly care about their residents - that level of personal attention and respect makes all the difference. Yes, the price tag is on the higher side—but in our experience, it’s absolutely worth it. Sunrise is a one-stop shop for a situation that’s already tough enough. Instead of juggling multiple providers or worrying about gaps in care, we now have confidence that every aspect of Grandma’s health, safety, and comfort is being looked after in one place. The peace of mind it brings to our family is priceless. The facility itself is bright, clean, and inviting. There’s a great variety of activities that keep residents engaged, and it’s been such a joy to see Grandma in a place where she’s truly cared for. We are endlessly grateful and would recommend this community to any family navigating senior care—it’s everything we hoped for and more.

Sunrise Chevy Chase staff that work with my Dad & other residents with different types of dementia are simply awesome! They show love for their jobs in their personal approach and interactions with each resident. They know my Dad and other residents’ history, interests and preferences and the staff integrate those elements into their day. The staff demonstrate joyfulness just being present, working their shift. My sister and I are grateful!

I moved my 96-year-old father into the reminiscence care unit at Sunrise of Chevy Chase three weeks ago (as of this writing) after he had been given a 30-discharge from Harmony at Martinsburg. The whole process went very smoothly thanks to the excellent communication, professionalism and compassion of Sharanda Bey. I receive regular updates from Catherine Njuguna and Jackie Atim about his health and care. Not only are they well qualified and trained, they are also kind, patient and attentive. The facility is lovely and the activities are engaging. I rest easily now that I know my father is being well cared for--I highly recommend Sunrise of Chevy Chase.

I recommend Sunrise of Chevy Chase to anyone looking for a senior residence for themselves or a family member. Our family member has dementia and as the dementia worsened the doctors told us it was no longer safe for him to live at home. My family visited several senior residences and chose the Memory Care Unit at Sunrise of Chevy Chase because Sunrise was very welcoming and cheerful, and the staff was so knowledgeable about how to care for a dementia patient. The Sunrise staff gave us the guidance we needed in completing the paperwork and doctors' visits and the move went smoothly. We are grateful for the excellent care he receives at Sunrise.
