This place is the worse. I had to remove my mom from this place because of their lack of care for her. My mom doesn’t have dementia, and is very aware of her surroundings. She was there to get help with rehab and steady medication flow for an infection that she got after having surgery. My mother’s first night there, they neglected my mother who was in pain. They did not follow the orders from the doctors to administer her medication in a timely manner. My mother called me complaining that they took her medication out of her bag. She was in pain, and that they are not giving it to her. I called them and asked about her medication, and they stated that that the pharmacy didn’t send it. When I told them that the hospital sent it over in her bag, they Al of a sudden found her medication. When my mom called for help to use the restroom or to have her bag changed, they wouldn’t come, so she had to get out of her bed and do it herself. No one changed her bed, when she asked for crackers, they gave her two, she asked for water they gave her lukewarm, she said she was hungry, they told her the kitchen was closed. My first visit there, I walked in to one staff member doing another staff members eyebrows or lashes. It smelled like pee, the furniture was from the 60’s / 70’s, peeled paint on the walls, bathroom fixtures old and not cleaned. What they feed them was so disgusting. Just because most of those people are dementia patients, they should not be cared for in that manner. My mom needed her bag changed, and one of the techs took a cup out of the trash and filled it with water and tried to pour the water in my mother’s colonoscopy bag. My mom called me crying and upset. Because I called and told them my mom was aware of what’s going, and the fact that she was a CNA, she worked housekeeping, and she just retired from a hospital, she knows how she should be treated. I took my mom out of this place, and the EMT’s came to transport her back to the hospital. Potomac Valley refused to release my mother’s medication that the hospital sent over with her. Lydia, Ann and the other ladies who where on call that night refused to come and talk to me or give the EMT’s my mother’s medication. They told the EMT’s that my mother didn’t ask for her medication. My mom and I asked and for her medication and they gave her the run around. Please do not put your family members in this place. No one should be treated in this manner. My mother’s roommate suffers from dementia and the put her bed to the floor with a thin mat, just in case she rolls out the bed. Why don’t the have new beds for these people. Why are they being treated by untrained, unqualified people.

My grandfather, Mr. Alarcón, is currently on Unit C, and I truly appreciate the warm, home-like environment the staff has created for him, especially since he is there long-term. The nurses and assistants are incredibly attentive; they know exactly what he likes and how to gently encourage him to complete his ADLs without causing agitation, which makes a huge difference in his comfort and well-being.
The manager, I believe her name is Valerie, has been exceptional. She is very attentive to my grandfather’s needs, and the fact that she speaks Spanish is a wonderful added benefit for our family. We are very grateful for the care and compassion shown to him.

First visit to Potomac Valley Rehabilitation, but have had first hand experience with several such facilities over the last couple of years.
Impressed with the energy of the staff: friendly, upbeat, engaged.
Impressed with the range of activities to participate in daily, led by fun and enthusiastic staff.
Impressed that even (seemingly) bedridden patients are brought out into the common room at times for a change of atmosphere--even though they are reclined and sleeping anyway.
My friend says she is quite happy with the food (for institution food). She is eating again and noted that they serve well-balanced meals. She is happy here.

Our family is so grateful for the care my aunt is receiving at Potomac Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes a huge difference. Most importantly, my aunt is eating well and seems genuinely happy with the services provided. It’s a relief to know she is in such good hands!

Being at Potamac Valley has been one of the most extraordinary times of my life starting with entering the facility you are greeted with such smiling and welcoming staff and receptionist. Moving into where I spend my month into the Arizona wing are the nurses where they welcome me with respect and kindliness. I met so many great staff person's on my first day I lost count but everyone was helpful and kind. I love their activities department. Ernesto can really sing and I love Ms. Carmen and how nice she is.They have so many wonderful activities like bingo and arts and crafts. I also enjoy going to rehab and working with Rosa, Chrystal and Martin. They pushed me to keep going even through the pain because it was going to help me in the end and it did. Thank you to Cita the supply lady who supplies me with the incontinence care supplies when I needed them I really appreciate it. Thank you for anyone I forgot to mention thank you to the whole Potomac Valley family for making my stay there enjoyable and may God bless you all!!!
