I'm an entertainer who for the last 20 years has performed in assisted living and memory care facilities throughout the greater DC area. I regularly do about 20 shows per month visiting many different facilities. As such I've seen dozens of places that offer assisted living and memory care residential living. They have even been recognized by MemoryCare.com as the Best Memory Care Community in Montgomery County. Were I in need of memory care I would want to go to Arbor Place Dementia Care. Here's why: 1. The number of staff to residents is higher than at any facility I have ever gone to. When I do a program there are regularly 4-6 caretakers who are employed by Arbor Place. That's for a total of about 10-12 residents. This is in addition to any private duty nurses, although I almost never see one at arbor place as the need isn't there. Most places I visit have 1 or possibly 2 employees for 10-15 residents. Also the staff at Arbor Place doesn't view my visits as time they can bury themselves in their phone either. They actively help. 2. It was started by a physician who specializes in geriatrics and is regularly on site. 3. Most of the care givers are nurses. In my experience that in itself is unusual. 4. The staff works as a team and treats the residents with kindness, caring and love. Each resident a valued member of their community. In my experience there are no memory care facilities that I have ever visited which are comparable. At times there's even a waiting list as there are only 16 resident rooms. Victor G. Entertainer

The staff at Arbor Place really make it a special place for your family member to live. They are all very caring and loving and do their best to keep my mom, 104 almost, as content as possible. The care giver ratio is extremely high, which helps with all they do for the residents.

Everyday I feel so lucky to have my mother at Arbor place. The care is extraordinary and the caregivers not only extend a feeling of empathy towards its residents, but give each resident a sense of meaning and integrity no matter what their challenges might be. This is a very special place, with very special mentorship for how to age in place, and still find a sense of meaning in ones life, no matter the age. My mother will be turning 98 soon, which is rather young for Arbor place, and there are residents living past 102 in good health. That says a lot about the care your loved one will receive.

We moved my mother to Arbor Place after having unsatisfactory experiences at Sunrise and Brookdale. Once she was settled at Arbor Place, there was a significant change in her demeanor - she was clearly happy there. Arbor Place provided her with a nurturing, stimulating, and loving home. The residence is immaculate and homey, and the backyard with its flowers and patio were a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors on a nice day. I can't say enough about the wonderful, attentive staff and management who treated her like their own family.

My uncle is in his 90's and has very little sight or hearing. He was in a typical nursing home and began to suffer from extreme paranoia and delusions, which the nursing home could not seem to address. A year ago, Arbor Place agreed to interview him and saw that, with more attentive psychiatric care and the support of their staff, his pain could be alleviated. We celebrated his 93rd birthday with the staff recently, and his transformation is remarkable. He reports that he is fine, and that the care he is getting it good. I would be more emphatic than that - both the care model and the care itself at Arbor Place are fantastic.
