I attended the service this past Sunday after reaching out the week before on behalf of a friend who had just lost his home and a loved one. I had both called and visited the church seeking support for him during an extremely difficult time.
My friend had already been sleeping in his car for six months. After asking Pastor Hicks for help, he ended up sleeping in his car for an additional two weeks without any real follow-up or support.
During our visit, Pastor Hicks and one of the Elders offered him $40 and $20 and said they would call him the next day. The room was only $68.00. I specifically asked if they truly intended to follow up, and they both gave their word that they would. Despite knowing that he had been living in his car for months, they seemed comfortable leaving him to continue sleeping there while doing little more than offering a referral.
Pastor Hicks also stated that if my friend came to the church, he could raise money for him. We discussed that even something small—if 500 people each gave just $1.00—could help resolve some immediate debts and give him a little stability. Instead, Pastor Hicks handed him $40 and said he was too busy to talk. In my opinion, he appeared too busy doing the work of the church to do the work of God.
The church secretary also shared a personal testimony that she said had helped her and might help him as well. However, when my friend attempted to speak with her further, she said she was too busy and made no effort to follow up, even though she knew her words had resonated with him and could have helped him continue healing.
Pastor Mike, unfortunately, presented himself differently in public than in practice. In front of others he appeared compassionate and sincere, but much of his conversation with my friend centered on himself. At one point, while my friend explained that he had been sleeping in his car for months, Pastor Mike remarked that at least he had a car. This was said while he was also speaking about praying for the return of sight in his own eye. It left me thinking: what if God responded the same way and said, “At least you still have your ears.”
Pastor Mike also promised—twice—that he would call the next day, even saying so on God. He did not call until two days later, and once he was no longer face to face with my friend, he essentially disappeared. My friend was left outside to spend yet another night sleeping in his car while Pastor Mike continued to present himself publicly as a sincere helper.
Unfortunately, none of them ever truly followed up.
When I attended the service this Sunday, they seemed surprised to see me—ironically during a sermon about integrity and faith in God.

I was a member since 2013. The people at Bibleway are cold and unfriendly some don’t speak unless they are giving you a daily word pamphlets. The ushers are rude. I will not be returning to Bibleway. Bibleway has been divided since Bishop Demery left in 2020 he took the majority of people with him. Bibleway has empty seats. I hope Bishop Way can bring in new people and fill the seats back 🙏 up other than that Bishop Way is an awesome pastor 👍 Bishop Way has left Bibleway as well wondering why they can’t keep go Bishops at the church 🤔 that speaks volumes. I have found a new home church.
