Stepped in about 11:50 am and got a chance to admire the stained glass windows and historic space/pews. At 12:10, a member of the clergy comes out to lead whoever is present in noonday prayer, which was wonderful to experience in this setting, and being episcopalian is not a requirement. Make sure to stop in next time you're out sightseeing- it's worth it!

St. John's Episcopal Church, Lafayette Square is a historic Episcopal church located at Sixteenth Street and H Street NW, in Washington, D.C.
Every sitting president has attended the church at least once since it was built in 1816, starting with James Madison.
Many of the traditional Inauguration Day spiritual services have been held at St. John's. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960.

Beautiful service in a historic setting. The music was fantastic and the church members were very friendly. Thank you for hosting us! Abraham Lincoln’s pew in the back was very touching to think of him sitting there in the evenings as he worked on such tough issues.
