This temple is like an oasis of peace in the bustle of the city. There are immaculately kept flower gardens throughout the grounds open to the public for walking. Inside the temple itself is meant for worshipers of the faith "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." There is a visitor's center on the property open to the public where missionaries explain the purpose of the temple or you can browse the interactive displays on your own.

I recently traveled to photograph an anniversary session at the Washington D.C. Temple and it was absolutely unreal 🤍 This is easily one of the most beautiful LDS temples for photos — the architecture is stunning, the grounds are perfectly maintained, and there are so many incredible spots for wedding day portraits, temple exits, and anniversary sessions. The light here, especially in the evening, is soft and romantic and photographs so beautifully. As a Utah-based wedding and destination photographer, I’m always looking for locations that feel both meaningful and visually stunning, and the Washington D.C. Temple is truly one of the best locations for LDS wedding photos and anniversary photography. It has such a peaceful, sacred feeling while still giving you that iconic, elegant backdrop. If you’re planning anniversary photos, a temple wedding, or even traveling for a destination session, I can’t recommend this location enough — it’s absolutely worth it ✨

I love to see the temple. The temple is a sacred, peaceful place were members of the church go to worship and commune with God. We make special covenants for ourselves and then return again and do proxy work for those who have died without the blessings of the gospel. I make it a point in my travels to visit as many temples as I can, even if I do not have time to go inside and preform the ordinances of the gospel. This one is especially beautiful to see at night.

Came here for the festival of lights at Christmas time. It's very impressive. Lights to the tip of every tree branch.

I love to see the temple! Such a beautiful sight, the Christmas trees are so neatly decorated! My family attended the Christmas concert, which was so lovely and joyful to listen to! While I am a member of the church, my favorite part about this visit was how there wasn’t any forcing of religion on anyone. Everyone was invited to celebrate Christmas regardless of religion or race. The theme of the event and decorations was to spread Christlike love to everyone, which I think is great.
