Went to Wat Thai Washington DC for the Songkran (Thai New Year) festival and it was an amazing experience. They had a full setup with vendors, a stage, live performances, and a great crowd — felt like a real cultural event, not just something small. The food was honestly all good across the board. Plenty of authentic Thai options from different vendors, fresh and flavorful, and priced fair for a festival. Definitely worth coming hungry. The atmosphere is what really makes it though — music, energy, people celebrating, and a strong sense of community. It’s a unique experience you won’t really find anywhere else in the DC area. If you’re looking for a Thai New Year / Songkran celebration in DC or just want to experience authentic Thai culture, this is 100% worth checking out. I’ll definitely be back next year.

Wat Thai Washington, D.C. is a peaceful and welcoming Thai Buddhist temple that offers a serene escape from the busy city. Tucked away in an accessible location, it’s very easy to get to, with two different entrances for convenience. We visited on a Sunday, and it was surprisingly quiet—there were only a few visitors, and parking was easy to find. The temple grounds are clean and well-maintained, creating a calming and spiritual atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The traditional Thai architecture and peaceful surroundings make it a wonderful place for reflection, prayer, or simply enjoying a moment of calm. If you’re interested in learning about Thai culture or Buddhism, this is a beautiful spot to explore. Do keep in mind that during Thai festivals or special events, the temple can get much busier, with larger crowds and limited parking. But on a regular day, it’s the perfect place for a quiet visit. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Wat Thai is definitely worth a stop if you’re looking for cultural richness and inner peace.

A beautiful & peaceful place to visit. The temple is very clean, the monks and everyone there are very friendly, very helpful and so kind. There is a meditation class every Saturday afternoon untill June next year.

The Thai festival was great. Although, there wasn't as many vendors as in the past. The place didn't lose it's charm and our boys loved it. The food was delicious. This traditional festival was amazing and it's people of Thailand are great souls. Hopefully, next year there are more vendors.

Came in to learn about Thai Buddhism. Came out meeting so many interesting and wonderful human beings. They not only do they make you feel at home, its none of the pressure to join, asking for money or talk without missing a beat about how bad are you and you're going to hell if you don't go to church. Just plain simple people enjoying everyone else and accepting you for who you are. The head Monk is just as everyone else, willing to jump in to take care of things. Wonderful place to go to meditate and just be yourself. In addition, if you want, learn about the rich culture, food and religion of our Thai brothers and sisters. YOU should definitely visit them. Wat Thai, Thank you so much for opening your doors and friendship.
