I still can’t talk about my husband without crying. He was the love of my life, my first childhood friend, the father of our amazing children. He was hardworking, funny, and so smart. When his awful disease took over, hospice was recommended to us. We started with a different hospice agency but it was a mess. Disaster after disaster, we made the switch to AdventHealth Hospice. The differences were noticeable from day one. We explained our concerns, our goals for my beloved, and they asked HIM what was most important. He was visibly moved by their concern for HIM and what HE wanted. That was difference number one. We had concerns over the medication changes that were made with the other hospice agency. Our wonderful nurse, Christina (for whom I will be eternally grateful), called Dr. Joshi who spoke to us and LISTENED and VALUED our input. He said, you know him best, tell me, and TOGETHER we will make the best decisions under the absolute worst circumstances. For the first time in what felt like eternity, I felt like I could breathe again. We had an absolutely, beyond-words, PHENOMENAL CNA named Dianna who would come and assist with bathing which was such a struggle for me and for my husband too. She never complained, she never rushed the process, she had the patience and demeanor of a saint. I believe she was God sent for us, especially. She is what I, what we, needed. She was thorough, thoughtful, and she always reassured me that I was doing the best that I could when I often doubted myself. An angel, that’s what Dianna is. When the time came to move him to the hospice house, I had what felt like family beside me. Renee, the amazing social worker, Christina, Dianna, they all called me and comforted me. The chaplain, Diego, he prayed with me, and when I was too angry to pray, he listened to me. The nurses in that unit were very attentive. They made sure my beloved was comfortable. They made sure he was clean. They made sure I was supported. When I howled the injustices of this situation, they comforted me. While the word hospice brings up painful reminders of a life well lived that ended too abruptly, the words Adventhealth Hospice bring me peace, because I know that as a team, we did the very best we could to let my husband live the rest of his life in a dignified manner, and that he left this Earth loved and cared for.

This is an absolutely wonderful facility that took care of my father is his final days. They made sure he was bathed, shaved, his mouth was cleaned -even though he was unresponsive. I am grateful. If you have to make this difficult choice, I do recommend this location. The nursing staff was great, friendly and responsive. They treated my dad with dignity.

Advent hospice was wonderful especially in the last 7 weeks and the final days and hours of my husband’s life. He died at home in the arms of his daughters and in my arms and I cannot recommend them enough. I have always heard about how comforting and patient and exceptional hospice is and Advent and their large staff exemplified this excellence. I now attend their ongoing bereavement group and it has helped me immensely. They are truly God’s angels.

On behalf of our entire family, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the hospice team who cared for both of our parents over the past several years. You walked alongside our family through the end-of-life journeys of both our mom and our dad, and the compassion, dignity, and respect you showed them will never be forgotten. During such emotional and difficult moments, your calm presence, kindness, and expertise brought comfort not only to them, but to all of us. A very special thank you to Emily, who served as the primary nurse and case manager for both of our parents. Your dedication, guidance, and genuine care meant more to our family than words can express. You were a steady and reassuring presence through both chapters of this journey. We are also incredibly grateful to the crisis care nurses who supported our dad during his final days — Franessa, Joy, Gina, Chiquita, Andie, Demetree, and Raul. Your round-the-clock presence, attentiveness, and compassion provided comfort, peace, and dignity in his final moments, and brought great reassurance to our family. Please know that the work you do truly matters. You cared for our parents as people, not just patients, and that gift will stay with our family forever. With heartfelt appreciation and gratitude, The Konkel Family

My family couldn’t have asked for a Better place for our mom to spend her final days. Every single person from the nurses to the front desk to the chef were so nice. The music therapy was also a very sweet treat for us and our mom. The place itself is beautiful. We had a huge room with a screened in patio. When you spend long days there it’s nice to be able to walk outside on the patio or just get some fresh air. Thank you for making the dying process peaceful and beautiful for our mom.
