Theres a very nice bench for a little seated breather and the memorial itself is surrounded bu tall shrub so it feels very insulated from the rest of the world.

Commissioned as a monument for the grave of Clover Adams, wife of Henry Adams who was later also buried there, this has been called the greatest example of American sculpture ever made, and deservedly so. The sculptor, Augustus St. Gaudens, did not name it; it has been called, variously, "Grief" (from a comment that "All human grief shows in this sad figure," attributed to Mark Twain), "Peace", "Nirvana" or simply the Adams monument. St. Gaudens once said that had he been pressed to name it, the only name he would have given it was "The Peace That Passeth Understanding".
