Gaithersburg Counseling Center

As a therapist, I love referring to Gaithersburg Counseling Center. Their team is collaborative and welcoming and always takes great care to ensure that clients are placed with the best clinical match. This practice is truly a gem in the community and helps fill the gap of therapists able to work well with teens.

It is unfortunate when a therapy center forgets their charter. As all know, Jan 24/25 brought a city shutting snow/ice storm. I was unable to drive to my appt as the plows hadn't come to my street. I had tried to drive, but car got stuck 40' from driveway. I let GCC know FIRST THING IN THE AM. Even with notice, and even knowing the city was shut down, GCC still charged me for a full session. Supremely unreasonable. Questionable/conditional empathy to be found here. Look elsewhere.

This is one of the most professional and knowledgeable psychotherapy counseling practices I know. The therapists are warm, compassionate and willing to help. The administrative team welcomes new clients in a competent and engaging way in order to find the help that is needed; they match clients with the right therapist from the start. I would not hesitate to recommend Gaithersburg Counseling Center and any therapist that Amy Hooper knows to my friends and family.

I’m happy with my counseling. The therapist I have is very compassionate, caring and direct. I highly recommend this place. I meet once a week with the same counselor/therapist and I’ve had better control over my anxiety/anger than I’ve felt my entire life. Can’t thank them enough for all of their efforts!

I have referred many patients to Amy Hooper and other members of her group for therapy for years. Amy is easy to speak with and listens with enthusiasm. She genuinely enjoys her career and helping others. Her office is also inviting and cozy.
