Milano Monuments

As the mother of a fallen police officer (Euclid Officer Jacob Derbin E.O.W. 5-11-24), helping to create a monument for my son was one of the most heartbreaking and important decisions of my life. Milano Monuments gave us far more than a monument, they gave us a beautiful tribute worthy of a hero. Their compassion, craftsmanship, and attention to detail exceeded anything I could have imagined. The monument they created captures not only the officer and soldier Jacob became, but the amazing young man and son we loved so deeply. Seeing it for the first time took my breath away. It felt like they understood this was not just stone, it was a way of honoring Jacob’s life, sacrifice, and story forever. What makes Jacob’s monument even more special is that it began as a project started by his graduating classmates from the Cuyahoga Heights Class of 2018, along with an incredible community fundraising effort to make it possible. That project ultimately helped form the Officer Jacob Derbin Foundation, which now provides scholarships and supports meaningful efforts honoring Jacob’s legacy. I will forever be grateful to Milano Monuments for treating my son, Officer Jacob Derbin, our family, and our community with such kindness, dignity, and respect during the darkest time of our lives. Thank you Jim Milano and your entire staff who became our family too. Jacob Derbin’s headstone was also created with Milano Monuments and I will write a separate review (5 star as well) soon. Big big store with absolute great variety of catholic products!! I was skeptical of the quality of statues bc of the lack of pictures. Amazing quality for a reasonable price!

Milano Monuments was so easy to work with. The monument met all of our expectations and later when we ordered flowers, they really listened to what we wanted and sent pictures when the arrangement had been made to be sure it met our expectations. A huge thanks to Alecia for taking the time to listen and create something beautiful for our grave side service.

The store was large, spacious and clean. The had a wide variety of items available in addition to headstones and they had enough inventory in stock. The headstones looked elegant and professional. We were advised up front that the paint on the headstone lettering should be touched up every 10 years, which we never would have known otherwise. The person that assisted us was very friendly and kind. They were newer at the company, so there were a few things that they were unfamiliar with, but they got answers to the questions. The appointment did take 2 hours which we were not expecting, but hopefully now it will be complete. The headstone can take several months to be ready.

The headstone was beautiful when we got it … But almost 12 years later, not so much. We contacted them multiple times. They painted it twice and even polished it. After the 3rd complaint they were done with it and us. They gave us a $100 gift certificate to make us go away. Told us we would have to pay to have it painted again. The stone was obviously a bad stone from the beginning. Should have been replaced. Would not recommend them to anyone. (Left when it was bought/Right is today)
