President James A. Garfield memorial is on a roundabout in front of Capital building. I was not sure if I was ok to walk over there. However it is fine because I have visited his resting place in Westlake Cemetery in Ohio. President James A. Garfield is one of four USA presidents that were assineted as presidens. Everybody know about Kennedy and Lincold, however fever people know about James A Garfield (1881) and William McKinley (1901). Rest in peace my friend.

Lovely statue and memorial to one of the very few presidents assassinated in office. Great setting with the Capitol in the background. Looks great, even on a hot and humid July day.

My favorite parking lot is located just steps from this memorial. You could see Capitol with the greatest views. Road is very good marked and the place itself is rarely overcrowded so you can still find a place for parking.

This statue shows our 20th president, who served less than a month when he was shot by a mentally disturbed man. The wound was not fatal but the treatment of the wound was - and he died a few days later. The artist was a friend of Garfield’s, and made great efforts to define the man with this work. Here we see Garfield addressing a crowd. Below Garfield are three figures representing his time as a teacher, soldier, and statesman.

A monument to the late President James Garfield gone too soon. People looked way older back then, he was only 49, very young. The monument is located on the capital grounds so before after your visit to the capital you cannot miss this .
