Hilgenfeld Mortuary

I can't say that I recommend this place. The two people I talked to throughout the process were nice enough and very responsive, but there were a few issues. Even though my deceased loved one pre-paid her cremation and put my name and address down to receive her ashes, they still acted hesitant to give me them, since I'm not next of kin. First, they said they needed to see her advance directive that I was on, which makes no sense, since she isn't alive. Next, they almost released the ashes to next of kin, despite me being the one on the paperwork, AND me stressing to them to NOT give the ashes to that person when they were received from the crematorium. They also charge $275 to mail the ashes out of state, which is an absolutely exploitative upcharge, as it only costs somewhere around ~ $115 via the required USPS priority express. They also had a large charge for mailing the death certificates, somewhere around $25, which also isn't ok. Please do better next time and follow the deceased person's wishes without question. Not everyone wants their ashes to go to their next of kin.

We are deeply grateful for the compassionate and professional care we received during a very difficult time. From our first meeting, the staff treated our family with kindness, patience, and respect. Every detail was handled with thoughtfulness and dignity, and their support made the process much easier to bear.

Our brother passed in March. After calling 5 or 6 other places Hilgenfeld was the first place that was able to take in my brother. We were very pleased with the service we were provided. I live in Tennessee, so to receive the treatment we did was a breath of fresh air. Edith was Fantastic. She treated us like we were family. I would highly recommend Hilgenfeld Mortuary and Edith!!

Becky and her team went out of their way to assist my funeral home with a service. Everyone was caring, their professional demeanor was top notch and their attention to detail was unsurpassed. I would not hesitate to call upon their professional services again and would recommend their services to you, also.

My father in law passed away in late 2019 without any indications or anything set in regards to his final wishes so having to do everything ourselves was a very eye opening experience. Needless to say I find myself being a pro now in regards to funeral arrangements. We were blessed to have found Hilgenfeld Mortuary by referral of one of our family members. The service we experienced was nothing short of exceptional. From our first meeting all the way until the burial I must say Hilgenfeld excelled in every aspect. They gave us plenty of options and worked with our budget since my husband and myself paid for all the services. I would and do recommend this mortuary to anyone who is looking for their services they are really in my eyes top notch!
