Buckingham South

My mother was a resident at Buckingham South for several years. During that time, I observed a number of incidents that raised concerns about staffing levels, particularly during weekends and overnight shifts. On two occasions, my mother sustained serious injuries while in the facility’s care. These incidents led me to question whether supervision and resident safety standards were adequate for her needs. Because my mother was wheelchair-bound, she required daily assistance with personal care. In addition to monthly rent, we paid over $1,200 per month for these assisted living care services. During the final month of her life, my mother was hospitalized and later in hospice, and was not present at Buckingham South or receiving care there. Despite this, charges for personal care services continued during that period, including after her passing. Based on my experience, I recommend that families carefully evaluate staffing levels, resident care, and billing practices when considering Buckingham South in Savannah

My sister, Mary, resided at Buckingham South for almost two years. When admitted, she was suffering from early dementia and terminal skin cancer. She passed away shortly after her 90th birthday. From day one, she received excellent care from the entire Slatus family and staff. It's seldom, if ever, to find an assisted living facility with such individual treatment and concern. We couldn’t have asked for a better home for my father-in-law. Rita and her staff are wonderful. They treat their residents like family, and serve with excellence. Several staff members have been there for over 20 years—that is almost unheard of in this industry, and says a lot about how well this facility is run. Can’t say enough nice things! Thank you, Rita and staff, from a very grateful family.

My mom chose Buckingham South because she knew quite a few residents at that time and they highly recommended them. I'm glad she did because she got high quality care and I had peace of mind with me being out of state. Rita and the staff met her needs and took care of her like she was family. I was always informed and received regular updates on her well being. The great thing about the care is it is adjusted to your needs from being self sufficient all the way to end of life. My mom moved in October 2022 and loved it at Buckingham South. The facility is clean and there are so many activities for the residents. I am so glad I found such a great place for her. All the staff were very attentive to her. Thanks Rita and Buckingham South for taking such good care of my mom.
