California Cremation & Burial

My wife passed away nine years ago and was buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Recently, I decided to transfer her remains to a family grave at a temple in Japan. Because her funeral and cremation took place in Northern California, I did not have a local funeral home to help with the process in San Diego. When I contacted California Cremation & Burial, Martin patiently explained every step and provided valuable guidance. After the disinterment, I discovered that my wife's urn had suffered water damage and needed to be replaced. Luke was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, from handling the case to reviewing the necessary paperwork and safely holding the urn in the vault when needed. He truly looked after every detail. I would also like to thank Briana, who helped arrange a beautiful replacement urn on very short notice. Thanks to the care and support of Martin, Luke, Briana, and the entire team, I was able to successfully lay my wife to rest at our temple in Japan. I am deeply grateful for their kindness, professionalism, and compassion during such an important time for our family. Thank you very much.

California Cremation & Burial was actually preselected by my mother prior to her passing. When the time came to be and in working with Jorge Rizo, I knew me and my family would be well taken care of. There is a large fenced in parking lot with some street parking nearby. Overall the place is clean, layout was great, and many large monitors around for easy viewing for a slideshow of your loved one. The chapel is nice with pew seating and audio is easily heard throughout. The kitchen has spacious counter space and room for a couple of tables. Then they have a reception room where our guests were able to gather, eat, and remenisce. Other than that, I would have to say the chapel does get warm when there are a lot of people in there. However, we were told in advance of that and the staff are gracious to increase the A/C when needed. Jorge took care all necessary papers works, coordinations, obituary website, and was very expeditious and always kept me informed. I would not hesitate in recommending California Cremation & Burial to anyone in need.

California Cremation & Burial were respectful, professional and so very kind to us as we navigated the sudden death of my partner’s father; especially Claudette, who’s reassuring voice helped tremendously in this very difficult time! Thank you. We also want to mention the removal service that came to retrieve him from home. It felt dignified in the way they cared for our father. We really appreciated that!
