Gentiva Hospice

So disappointed in this hospice company. They worked very hard to get our business, but once my dad was admitted, communication about his condition was extremely poor. I’m heartbroken that I didn’t get the information I needed in time to spend more meaningful moments with my dad. Families deserve compassionate, proactive communication during such an important and difficult time.

Our family is incredibly grateful for the care Kindred/Gentiva Hospice provided for my grandpa back in 2022. From the moment they stepped into our home, they became like a second family to us. It was clear that the staff didn't just see this as a job—they truly loved what they were doing and cared deeply for their patients. Their compassion and warmth during those final weeks made an impossibly difficult time so much easier to bear. We still remember all of their names and the specific ways they went above and beyond for him. We trust them so much that we are reaching out to them again to provide care for another relative. If you want your loved one to be treated with dignity, genuine love, and professional excellence, I cannot recommend them enough.

I would like to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the extraordinary staff of Gentiva Hospice at the Harlingen, TX location, including Brian Smith, Eusebio Martinez, Maribel Lopez and Chris Castillo. These four staff members have embodied the true spirit of compassion and care, becoming like family from the very first day of my mother's administration to hospice care three years ago! Throughout her journey, each of these exceptional staff members consistently went above and beyond, providing outstanding support, exceptional care and profound spiritual guidance until the day of her passing. Thank you again for being beacons of hope, comfort and strength, and for providing a shining example of excellence in care and compassion!

Our experience with Gentiva Hospice team was nothing but positive! Wonderful people who really care! Our mom was on home hospice for about 3 weeks before she passed. Her care team were AMAZING. Every person that we came in contact with was caring, and compassionate. They were very good at explaining things and making suggestions to help me and my brother as we took care of our mom. To her nurse Brian, thank you for your dedication to your patients and what you do everyday, you make a difference to the patients and their family! The social worker was amazing! Otherwise, the communication was challenging. The ball got dropped over and over again from no return phone calls, lack of providing requested notes on my dads progress, not filling prescriptions in a timely manner, etc. I felt like my dad was just a file number. Then they dropped him from their service because he had "plateaued" which was just ridiculous. I found out he was getting dropped the day they called me to tell me and asked if I would come sign discharge papers that day......on the day I found out he was getting dropped. Just WOW!!!!!
