Unfortunately, my son and I got kicked out of the Ronald McDonald home and was told by the case worker that we can’t attend any of their facilities located in DC. Our case worker told us it was bc my son was running and left unattended at times. I must say I have never left my son alone for long period of time my nerves would be torn up however there were times where I was in the bathroom and I would hear him leave out to go to the playroom next door to us so I would rush out to be with him. There was also times where he would ask for a snack and I would say sure go get it and he would go two feet over to the cafe grab a snack and come back. Our room was so close I would hear him. He would never run when it was time for bed or night time hours just during the day I would tell him to slow down. They also said my daughter came down and was climbing on a basketball goal that was outside on the playground. It wasn’t a goal but either way being in right there I don’t see the problem. So my son is getting kicked out for being a kid. Yes he has a lot of energy than most attending but to say my 6 year old son with neuroblastoma cancer can’t attend there while he seeks treatment is so disheartening. The case worker tried to fight for us but the owner didn’t budge. I just want to say we are so thankful for our time being there but this really broke my heart to its core. My son and I will be find and will find a way. I am hoping that in the future for the kids that have a bit more energy can still feel welcomed and consider them to stay as they are going through a lot with their treatments. We also didn’t find out we were kicked out until months later he had to go back after he relapsed I found out he had a new lesion found in his head plus is getting kicked out the Ronald McDonald same day. Completely shattered my heart. However God will always make a way for us, he always has.

It's very welcoming and clean. The boys met other children at "the house" who traveled here for their own medical journeys. They got to bond with other kids. It really does brighten parents up when you see the outlook of our children playing and talking about life. Changes my perspective as a human being.

The people at this Ronald McDonald House were absolutely amazing! And the accommodations were top notch! Annie went above and beyond to help us, knowing that we were disabled adults bringing a sick child to Children’s National. We felt like we were staying with family instead of strangers and even our rather stand off-ish child felt comfortably at home.
Thank you all so very much for everything!!!

I can't say enough good things about this place and the people and groups that support it. If your reading this because you will be staying, then know it is a nice place to stay; the beds are comfortable and the shared kitchen is well equipped, though the rooms and halls can be a bit echoey. The people who assist and volunteer are always very helpful and kind.
If you are reading this for any other reason, I can say from personal experience, this is a great charity to support, I cannot imagine how our, or many of the families we met, could manage without it. If you donate or volunteer you have my sincere thanks.
