I can't say enough about the compassion and quality of care my entire family received from Sagel-Bloomfield in handling the funeral arrangements for my father. I would give them 10 stars if I could! My father died unexpectedly while traveling overseas. None of our immediate family lives in the DC area but may father had desired a burial at Arlington National Cemetery. Through all of the bureaucratic complications of paperwork and international transport as well as navigating the planning of an Arlington burial, they were communicative and up front about everything - even when the news we received was of further delays, they were timely and comprehensive in their communication with our family. This is our fourth time in 15 years that we've used the services of Sagel Bloomfield. The first three involved my parents and my mother-in-law, and Sagel Bloomfield couldn't have been more helpful. This last time was just two months ago, when my brother-in-law passed away very suddenly at the age of 70. He lived in Virginia and did not have a Will, so we had issues with his body being brought to a funeral home in Virginia and their inability to release his body because no Personal Representative to the estate had yet been named. We were absolutely distressed by these developments and turned to Sagel Bloomfield for assistance. They could not have been more helpful. In a matter of just a few days, they expedited the necessary paperwork that would allow for my brother-in-law to be brought up to Maryland so we could bury him in the Garden of Remembrance. We contacted Sagel Bloomfield on a Sunday morning, and were immediately connected with Angela Eiss, who was kind, empathic, efficient and reassuring throughout the entire process. From the time we contacted Sagel on that Sunday, it took only three days for him to be properly laid to rest in our family section at the Garden of Remembrance, thanks to Sagel Bloomfield. Without their able assistance, I don't know how long that entire process could have possibly taken. But Angela knew exactly what to do, who to contact, and how to move things along in a prompt and efficient manner. Sagel Bloomfield is a top notch funeral care facility and we knew from the time we contacted them that we were in good hands. The sad reality of life is we will all pass at some point, or know a loved one who will. Ideally, I advise taking care of these arrangements when everyone is "young" and healthy, so the tough decisions don't have to be made when a family is dealing with such an emotional trauma. But if you have not taken the necessary steps to plan in advance for your final resting place, I strongly encourage you to reach out to Sagel Bloomfield (which you can also do to make these plans in advance) because you will most assuredly be handled with love and compassion - and who could ask for anything more when grieving over the passing of a loved one?
