Beautifully designed building in the heart of the city.

Early priorities of the Pew Memorial Trust included cancer research, the American Red Cross, and a pioneering project to assist historically black colleges. Later beneficiaries included ultra right wing conservative organizations such as the John Birch Society, the American Liberty League, and the American Enterprise Institute. However, it also funds environmental organizations such as the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Oceana, and mainstream think tanks like the Brookings Institute. Even though it started as a politically conservative foundation, it does (currently) tend to stay out of the partisan world of politics, unless general polls are gathered. Environmental issues, recidivism of prisons are a few of the focused areas within the think tank group.
