Thank to the Team at Russell Park Rehabilitation and Living Center,
I am writing to share our family's heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful care our mother received at your facility.
We are so grateful for the team of doctors, CNAs, and staff from every department. Everyone we encountered was incredibly caring, loving, and attentive, treating our mother with the utmost respect and kindness. She especially enjoyed the meals and frequently mentioned how wonderful the food was.
We would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Hattan. His straightforward communication, combined with his compassion and dedication to keeping our mother safe and comfortable, was deeply appreciated by our entire family.
While there were some areas where we felt the overall communication and care was genuine compassion shown by your team made a lasting impact. Thank you all for your hard work and for the environment you provided for our mother.
She passed away happy and very well taken care of. Thank you

Appalling. I attended along side a friend (who has already been having a hard time with the facility) while they were visiting a parent; I waited by the entrance, observing. The facility was not clean, and the environment was not nurturing. Staff were immediately short and curt, not only with us in every interaction I viewed. (On phone, in discussing patients, in speaking to patients, etc.) Speaking to the elderly as if they are children, disciplining via threatening care changes, whispering about them audibly to other staff… and the fact that I could witness all of that, as a brief visitor?
My family runs an elderly care company in the Midwest, so I am familiar with the standard of care one can and should expect for a loved one (affordably, too). This place does NOT meet it.
I am so glad to not have a family member in care here, and never will. I advise you to find another place for your loved ones as well, if you are hoping for appropriate care.
And as I see the facility itself is spending more time replying to reviews rather than improving their standard of care, consider spending your time more wisely. I hope every one of you receive EXACTLY the level of care in your age of need that you currently provide your most ‘difficult’ (autonomous) patient.

Update: everything that you responded with in your diplomatic answer is an absolute lie. I’ve met with the Director of nursing and nothing was done. I’ve attempted to meet with the facility administrator and was ignored when I requested to try and meet with her. I’ve been in that facility for several hours at a time with my mother, and have witnessed these things personally. Unfortunately, you’re not going to be able to gaslight me into things that I’ve seen personally. I’ve seen the bugs, I’ve talked to residence, who have been bitten by them, and I know as a PR person you probably have to give this diplomatic response But everything you stated is absolutely not true based on what I’ve witnessed, and my mother has witnessed personally. The only advocating is trying to push my mother out the door before she’s ready with a program that she’s not ready for so she’s no longer a problem. Gaslighting doesn’t work on me.
The quality of care, and level of administrative concern for the welfare of the residents is non existent. They have bugs. Call bell system is a light that residents hope the staff sees. Residents will sit in their wet briefs for prolonged periods of time because no one checks on them. Overnight nursing staff refuse to care for patients if they have a personal vendetta against them. This is all things I have personally witnessed visiting my Mother the past year. Relocating her as soon as something opens up. Do not send your loved ones here.

My husband was in Russell Park for three months. It was a sad experience to say the least. Maybe it is a mismanagement of funds because the staff is precious, yet incapable of keeping up. They are always short handed and one can wait until after 3 pm for their morning bath. The food is not clean. It is tasteless. Again, a mismanagement of funds. I personally watched the housekeeping person come in and clean the floor missing the same piles of sheet rock bits for over two weeks. As well as avoiding a cob web under the bureau. And I think if memory serves me, I did see one caregiver wear gloves one time. It is very sad for people who cannot move or defend themselves.

I am sadden to hear my sister cry each time I call her at Russel Park, she is bed ridden, a diabetic, she continues to tell me, how she is seldom changed, sits in her urine, is verbal abused, emotionally abused, always hungry, or thirsty. Rings her bell for hours on end just to get someone, he list goes on and on. Apparently this place is understaffed. Unfortunately I live in another state, but am coming up to see what in the world is going on. My sister is very well educated when it comes to Nursing care, as she has retired from that line of work. I have tried to call several times, but to no avail. To be continued........when I get some answers.
