I’d written the below review regarding the Pavilion at Great Hills just seven months ago. In recent months, Sonida Senior Living has purchased the property and I’m very sad to say it seems things have changed drastically.
Mimi and Jane have all departed and I learned today that Krystal, the senior nurse who has shown such compassion for all the residents, was literally walked out the door as they fired her for reasons I’m sure will never be shared with me.
What’s more, the daily food menus have shrunk by half the previous options. I’ve become friends with more than a dozen of the residents since my parents move and all of them seem unhappy with the recent changes.
I was scheduled to discuss with Krystal an issue related to my mother’s medications today. I know the new nurse, Natasha, was given my phone number and asked to call me about the matter but I never received that call. I was assured I could count on her to reach back but I’m very quickly learning what level of service is the new Pavilion norm.
I might feel better if I could discuss the matter with the new interim manager but she’s inconveniently out for the next two days.
I’m very uncertain about my parents continued residency.

Pavilion at Great Hills has proven an exceptional choice for my two elderly parents. The apartments are clean and well laid out. The food is tasty and the menu varies daily.
Most importantly, the care and staff that provide it are top tier. The primary nurses, Krystal and Latrice, have regularly demonstrated a personal and individual level of concern. They are very organized and seem to know all their patients by name. The director, Jane, is responsive and has always made time for my concerns. Care provider Mimi has remarkable patience and seems to treat my parents like personal friends. Pricing is within my parents limited budget.
I would recommend Pavilion to any of my friends and family looking for a place for their own seniors.

My mother has been in assisted living at the Pavilion for two years.
My mother and family are very satisfied with the compassionate care that she is receiving. Jane, the Director, is wonderful. Returns phone calls promptly. As a physician, I believe Krystal, the wellness director, is knowledgeable about medicine. Both Jane and Krystal are a great team and are always positive. Mom's apartment is spacious, and the building has a nice courtyard with a lot of light.
She has a busy schedule with activities. The food is healthy, and mom has a special diet that the staff monitors.
My entire family is content with the Pavilion.
I recommend the assisted living program there.

I have been to many facilities across Texas in the capacity as a physiotherapist and the Pavilion is one of the most efficiently operated assisted living facility. The management and staff have compassion and are truly dedicated to the wellbeing of all their residents.

I had a wonderful experience with Tiya M at Great Hills Pavilion. From the moment I walked in, she made me feel welcomed and at ease. Her empathy truly stood out and she took the time to listen attentively and made sure I felt heard and understood throughout our interaction. Tiya’s warmth and friendliness are genuine and made a real difference in my visit. It's clear she genuinely cares about the people she helps, and that level of compassion is rare and deeply appreciated. Thank you, Tiya, for your kindness and professionalism!

I'm writing to congratulate you on the excellent care provided by your staff on late night duty this past week.
My mom had an accident with her lift recliner and deeply cut her leg. Jeremy immediately responded to my Mom's call button and got me on the phone via Facetime so I could accurately assess the seriousness of the situation. It warranted a trip to the emergency room for stitches.
Jeremy was calm, caring and compassionate toward my mom and then me when I arrived. His demeanor helped us both in this very stressful situation. He assisted in showing EMS to Mom's room and then making sure everything was tidied up for when my Mom was discharged from the hospital at 3:30 the next morning. There was a young lady also on duty that helped answer the phone and to make sure we could gain entry to get Mom back to the comfort of her apartment, but I'm sorry that I didn't get her name as she was helpful as well. Please accept sincerest thanks from my Mom and me.
You have done such an amazing job making sure that there is a great staff in place to care for the residents of Pavilion so kudo's to you as well!
PS. Thanks to Crystal for setting up follow up wound care for Mom's healing - much appreciated.
With gratitude,
MD
