We recently used Cremation Society of Virginia for a loved one that passed prior to making arrangements. We called and the staff of VCSOVA immediately took action in a respectful, compassionate, and professional manner on a weekend. The staff was amazing to work with and followed the process through with us to make decisions easy and with great compassion. Nicole, in particular, was a phenomenal resource in helping us and creating the obituary. The cost was very reasonable and we were able to obtain all documentation through them. There are too many great point to make during a difficult time and Virginia Cremation Society of Virginia was key in making the process one we would recommend to anyone.

Unexpected losses create the type of shock which leaves one unable to move, much less make decisions. We were so fortunate to have Callaghan expertly guide us through each step slowly and expertly. Her calm, soothing voice, patience and attentiveness to details helped move us forward while still in shock. The entire office is respectful, compassionate and thoughtful. The 12 Weeks of Peace emails helped to move through the grieving process. Kudos and much gratefulness to all at this office.

I have nothing but warm and kind things to say about CSV, because these are the feelings that come to me when I think about how they handled my husband’s sudden passing in 2017 and my elderly mother’s passing in 2026. From setting up a contract in advance (I highly recommend so it’s not happening when you’re under stress), to taking your loved one from their place of death, to posting an obituary, they handle it all with grace. They are thoughtful, patient, and knowledgeable — and affordable. My family and friends have witnessed the same. This is one of the most respected organizations I know.

I'm approaching 70 years old, my wife is 8 years younger. We knew it was time to consider end-of-life arrangements. We'd both pretty well decided that cremation would be easiest option for everyone, and would likely be cheaper. When we saw an ad for an informational meeting, with free lunch provided, we saw it as a perfect opportunity to really learn about cremation. Anyone even remotely considering cremation needs to attend one of these meetings. Deanna gave us a lot of great information and we chose to have her come to our home to discuss plans. She asked about our personal preferences, family situation, etc. Then she gave us three different options to consider, spelling out the cost and benefits of each, rather than pushing a one-size-fits-all. Bottom line, we were able to take care of our end-of-life arrangements quickly, and at a fraction of the cost traditional arrangements.

They made every part of a very difficult process very easy. They were kind, understanding, and willing to work with us on all our questions and requests. We worked with 3 different people during the process, but it all felt very seamless and they all made it seem like they knew exactly who they were talking to and what our needs were. They were very professional, organized, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them if you have simple cremation needs.
