I have never been to this cemetery so when I volunteered to attend this Walking for Dreams event for Dayspring Homeless Shelter, I was perplexed. To our surprise there’s so much space for walking and entertainment. We enjoyed getting together for a great cause and learning about the crown hill area. We raised over $11k and got lots of steps in. Already looking forward to next year.

The team of people at Crown Hill were so kind and helpful. We are glad we made the decision to lay my Mom to rest there. We have several family members resting there and it just felt like taking her home.

On Memorial Day, there was no flag on the flagpole in area #28 Veterans Area. No flags were placed on the graves there either. I spoke with Will Obert, General Manager, at the 34th street gate. He said the flag was stolen the night before. I told him it wasn't there on Sunday either, as I had stopped by after church. Thère were no flags placed on the graves in the Field of Valor either. Again, this was Memorial Day, morning. Let's get Crown Hill to honor our Veterans, on this day of remembrance. On a positive note, The Scouts of America did a wonderful job, placing flags on the graves of the Crown Hill National Cemetery, which is not maintained by Crown Hill. Mr. Obert could learn a little about honor, from the Scouts. Mr. Obert, will there be a flag on the flagpole on Flag Day 250, in 2026?
Will you straighten the headstones in Area # 28? Will you begin to honor the Veterans resting in your care, at Crown Hill? Just my opinion, but I agree with Tony, don't believe, this place of honor, should be a place for dog walks! Can't believe, this is the best we can do in Indianapolis, the headquarters, of The American Legion....

Crown Hill Cemetery is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit in Indianapolis. What struck me most was how well-maintained, calm, and quiet it is. The grounds are spacious and serene, with so much history throughout. Many of Indianapolis’ most prominent families and historic figures are buried here, with stories dating back to the 1800s. It feels less like just a cemetery and more like a place of reflection, history, and quiet beauty. Definitely worth visiting if you appreciate Indianapolis history and peaceful surroundings.

This is an expansive cemetery with numerous beautiful gravestones. Many of Indianapolis’ best known people are buried here, and the range of interesting tombs makes for a fascinating tour. It’s quite peaceful, as one might expect, and struck me as a very nice cemetery. It’s worth a look if you’re interested in this sort of thing.
