As far as a sober living house goes, it's not awful. The religion they cram down your throat is. There's only one way, and its their way. The staff members (including directors, assistant directors, administrative staff, councilors, and any other staff handling day to day needs) tend to be judgemental and to ignore any real client need. Staff prefer to shame and nitpic than to uplift and boost self-esteem and encourage self empowerment from their clients.

I delivered my son's things and she wasn't friendly at all .She said I never had appointment to deliver anythg to my son.
I didn't know I needed appointment. He hadn't been able to shower and change clothes in 5 days there in quarters or 7 days in jail so I thought he needed his things.
I hope that was a 1 time thing and that he is fine there.

The staff is absolutely horrendous. If you don’t want to work there, get a different job. Whenever I try to make a phone call, they rarely ever answer. They either decline the call, let it ring, or they put you on hold and then hang up. How am I supposed to contact anyone when they won’t even answer the phone? And when they do answer the phone they are EXTREMELY RUDE! They need to have their job positions dissolved. They are useless. Two packages were sent to a loved one in there, they combed through it and took out the stuff they wanted saying they were going to “donate” it (when they just kept it for themselves) and called my loved one selfish for having items sent over to him. Not only did they steal from us but made him feel guilty for having help. How does that make sense? Does this place hire people that lack common sense? Highly don’t recommend this place to ANYONE. You’re better off recovering in a cardboard box.

Only one percent achieve success. Can't get to court from in there.. doctor visits onerous too.. although I acheived sobriety and was touched by God in 42 days in there. But I got a lot of that from my recovering brothers..not the staff

My son was sent to St. Ann's from jail. His heroin addiction has lead him down many a dark path, but St. Ann's was a true light of hope. The staff were professional and to say they were caring is an understatement. The facility is clean and their focus is on healing. My son was sent to another Louisville facility a few years back that was horrible, from the filth to the easily access of more drugs.
Consider yourself blessed if your loved one is sent to St. Ann's of Dismas and tell them to work their program. The staff is strict but fair! Do yourself a favor and look into the meaning of Dismas.
