When my uncle Rick passed away a few months ago, I picked up the phone and randomly called Barlow. Chip picked up the phone and from the moment that he said hello up and thru my uncle’s funeral, he always dealt with me with understanding, empathy and sympathy. He was courteous always and understanding. In times of loss and grief, it’s paramount that the people you deal with on the other line intimately know what you are dealing with and show that they care. Chip did that with me and my family. It’s a really hard thing to go through and Barlow made it a little easier through Chip’s compassionate way of communicating and listening. I would recommend them to other family and friends going through a time of grief.

Everyone at Barlow Bonsall was so incredibly kind and helpful. They made everything as easy as possible for our family when my Mother in Law passed.

Loved working with Barlow and Bonsall. They handled everything with amazing care. Great presence and compassion. We especially loved working with Jackson. He took great care and made the whole process smooth for me since I was handling everything from 400 miles away.

My father passed away a little over a year ago. Barlow Bonsall made all of the necessary arrangements for our family. They treated my Dad and our entire family with class, decency, professionalism, and respect. It was a difficult time for us. We appreciate - and will never forget - how they guided us through those very sad days. Thanks to all of you, especially Shelia.

Days before my mother’s funeral I had consulted with a person who I believe is upper management at the funeral home. Each of the details we had pre-planned in the days prior were questioned to me during the service as if the staff was not aware of our wishes. Staff talked in an outer corridor during the service loud enough to be heard in the room where services were being held. A mixup due to an incorrect flower delivery caused staff to address the deceased (my mother) by another name which caused many family members to be left out of a separate room prayer during closing of the coffin. After the service we felt rushed out so that the staff could lock up. Front doors locked while family members still inside. The funeral was prepaid and I was told we would go over the numbers as the family would be getting a partial refund. This did not happen as the accountant at the funeral went over the numbers but they were not shared with me and I was given a refund for much less than expected. I’m sure whatever numbers would have been presented to me would match what my refund ended up being so no sense in pursuing getting the paperwork to support their numbers. My mothers ashes were to be buried and my understanding was that the funeral home would seal the ashes in a vault for me to pick up and deliver to the cemetery the day after the funeral. Instead I was given ashes in one package and a vault in another and the cemetery had to do the sealing of the ashes in the vault. Two weeks after the funeral when vocalizing theses issues (and more) to the funeral home staff that was my contact, I got excuses and was even told that the communication was an error on my part. I was told that I had requested the ashes not be sealed in the vault until I viewed the urn. This is incorrect and myself, my daughter, and the cemetery director all were on the same page. The funeral home was not. The staff are friendly but that doesn’t help much when so many errors make an already difficult time even worse. I believe the job of a funeral home includes make the passing of a loved one as easy as possible for family and friends and this funeral home failed in that endeavor.
