Appalachian Counseling Center- Huntington

My adult child went in for an Autism diagnosis. They were scheduled in a reasonable amount of time for a first appointment and the official assessment a couple weeks later. This office was able to give an official diagnosis and support what therapists have agreed upon in the behaviors and history of my child, whereas another office in town displayed a disappointing lack of understanding of adults with autism. I would recommend them to anyone needing a professional to diagnose and treat such a dynamic and often misunderstood diagnosis.

I have worked with this group for the last year. After completing the intake forms and survey they place you with a therapist that would best suit your needs. I highly recommend this group and I am very pleased with my progress over the last year with Rob Funk.

I called this place for services and received an email of information I needed to complete. Basically intake forms. I filled them out completely and sent them back. I received an email telling me who my therapist was. I waited to be contacted for appointment info but never received one so I went in the portal to get an appointment but it tells you to pick the session you need and I’m no therapist or psychiatrist so I wasn’t sure what 4 different options of psychotherapy I needed. So I called in and the lady put me on the schedule for the person they chose for me. I had my appointment. He asked me the basic beginning questions. Things went well. I thought. He told me he would have to call me when he got into his schedule to schedule me. Never heard from anyone. I’m not calling back. If your that negligent that people have to chase you down you need help yourselves. There’s people out here looking for help and you’re leaving them high and dry. Good luck.

I can not in good conscience recommend Appalachian Counseling Center to any LGBTQ+ folks or anyone of modest means given my personal experience with this company. Individual therapists are great, but Appalachian Counseling Center is not the welcoming and supporting company it portrays itself to be. You've been warned.
