Concerns Regarding Care and Communication at Brighton Gardens
I am writing to share feedback regarding our family’s experience at Brighton Gardens.
While there were positive aspects of our experience, particularly with certain staff members, we encountered several significant concerns related to cost, care delivery, and communication.
First, we found the overall pricing to be substantially higher than comparable assisted living communities in the Raleigh area. The base assisted living rate began at approximately $7,000 per month and increased to nearly $10,000 within a year. In addition, charges for supplemental care services—such as two assisted showers per week—were considerable. Despite these added costs, the agreed-upon care plan was not always consistently followed. To ensure accountability and appropriate care delivery, we felt it necessary to install an in-room Ring camera and ultimately hire an outside aide to visit weekly to maintain appropriate personal hygiene standards.
We also experienced ongoing challenges with communication and responsiveness. It was often difficult to identify the appropriate point of contact for obtaining the current medication administration list or for addressing questions regarding care. Emails and text messages sometimes went unanswered. In several interactions with members of the management team, I felt that my concerns were met with dismissiveness rather than collaborative problem-solving, which was disappointing.
That said, I would like to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by some individual staff members. In particular, Freida in the dining facility consistently demonstrated kindness and attentiveness, often assisting my loved one to the elevator after meals. These positive personal connections were meaningful and appreciated.
We hope this feedback will be taken seriously and used to improve care consistency, communication practices, and overall accountability. Families entrust assisted living communities with the wellbeing of those they love, and clear communication and reliable care delivery are essential to maintaining that trust.

I have multiple family members in your care and would/cannot recommend your facility.
You are unable to follow written and legal protocols, unable to performs assisted living requirement and change what you are willing to do based on the level of laziness or lack of training on the current staff. Your requirement to provide basics are neglected in your care. Hire better, train better, and overall do better for the care of these people entrusted to you.
Do better Brighton gardens.

I recently had to place my wife at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh, where she spent the last six months of her life receiving end-of-life care. During that time, she was treated with kindness by a skilled and compassionate staff who clearly cared about her well-being.
From the moment I walked in, the receptionist and everyone who greeted me made me and my family feel welcome. They consistently showed a genuine interest in how we were doing, which meant a great deal to us.
No place is perfect all the time. There were moments when her attendants were clearly overwhelmed with too many calls, but they always came through—taking care of her needs, changing her diapers, clothes, and sheets, and even handling her laundry. Somehow, she was always dressed and put together every morning—it was a mystery to me who did it, but it was always done with care and dignity.
I looked hard to find things that were wrong, but in the end, Brighton Gardens of Raleigh provided a level of care far better than I could have managed on my own, or even with a team hired to care for her at home. There was very little staff turnover during her stay, and when staffing was tight, they were able to pull support from other facilities—something I truly appreciated.
It’s important to visit your loved one and to have others visit when you can’t, but I always felt confident that my wife was in good hands. She was happy there and often complimented the people who cared for her. I am deeply grateful to Brighton Gardens for giving her the care and comfort she deserved.

Please do not let your loved one go to Brighton. They will not get the care and services that they need and deserve AND that you’re paying for. The administration is so detached from the reality of just how overworked and (a word that admin and corporate has charts and graphs to tell me it just isn’t true!) UNDERSTAFFED.
We moved my mom and dad into Brighton 12yrs ago. It was a lovely community then. We saw admin interacting all the time in the community. The dining room was run with a staff that was able to serve everyone with respect and dignity. My father passed 7yrs ago and my mom stayed on because it was home.
In the last few years, that home has been ruined. I’m really not sure how corporate can hear the number of complaints that I KNOW they have received (not just from me) and still not change a thing.
Please don’t put your loved one here. The facility is in poor condition (the carpet, which is everywhere) has never been replaced in the 12 years that we’ve been here. The large front elevator was out of service for months, repaired and worked for a few months and then out of service for months again. The dining area is understaffed so the residents have to raise their hands to get attention. Thank goodness for the ONE full time dining room worker. I hope she is paid what she DESERVES!
We recently moved our 94yr old mother from this place to another local community. This is something we never thought/wanted to do. This place was home. But we couldn’t keep her in a place that was being so mismanaged. And the final hurt was that after that long of residing there, not one admin or corporate member reached out to either my mom or me to let us know that she would be missed. Many, many staff did as well as residents. Please don’t put your loved one here

The grounds are well kept. The facility is clean. The staff was nice and seemed to care about the residents. They have activities for the residents. They seemed to be well taken care of. My client's room was clean. I would recommend this facility.
