VITAS Healthcare

Just passed a Vitas truck on the road (10 years and 1000 miles later) and this popped into my head. My mother was being “cared” for by Vitas. It was really bad and I was just a kid. She had frequent nosebleeds from treatment and was on hospice care. This is the first time I had met anyone from Vitas. One of them said something like, “why’d you punch her in the face?” gesturing to her nosebleed, laughing like it was a great joke. I didn’t think it was funny then and even now it still enrages me to think about how callous that person was. Frankly all the home health companies were bad but Vitas always sticks out as being the worst.

My Mom’s GP suggested Vitas. They are the worst and towards the end of life, when they promised they’d be there they disappeared, and worse when their doctor called he was totally dismissive. My guess is they are still ripping us off through Medicare looking at the bills.

I got my hospice certification in Miami, Fl. Would like to go back to it here in NJ.
