A family member had been battling illness for years and over the last few months her illness became a toll on her body. She decided to enter the hospice program and UT was recommended to her. From the very beginning UT took the lead and helped my family at every turn. The day shift nurses were kind and thoughtful spending time after seeing my family member and talking to me, explaining everything to me while answering my questions. I have never experienced such professionalism, kindness and genuine caring with someone else's family member. The 24 hospice phone nurses were patient and understanding even when I felt the need to call more than once. The overnight nurses who responded to my calls were the best. Arriving quickly and taking care of my loved one. When it became time to look into a hospice facility the hospice social worker came and visited us. She called first and was there to speak to my family member within a half hour. She was also one of the kindest people I could have hoped for. They found a hospice facility for us by the end of the day. My loved one was able to communicate that they did not wish to leave their home but this didn't matter to the staff. They continued to treat my family member as if they were one of their own. When the time came the nurse responded to my family member's passing quickly and with compassion. I was never rushed to a decision and helped through the entire ordeal. I could not have provided the level of care my family member did without UT Hospice. I cannot praise them enough. I did not mention any of the staff's names but if you read this you know who you are and that my family truly thanks you

My grandfather is in hospice and his nurse Christian Cooley is incredible. She takes such good care of him. He's more on the crabby side because he has dementia but she's the only one that can make him smile. He lights up every time she comes in the room. He's not big on showers but Emily Goddard has been amazing! She's patient with him and kind. If he's having a bad day, she's the one that can talk to him nicely and get him to cooperate. I'm so grateful for both of them.

Casey S. was such a blessing to our family while caring for my grandmother in hospice. As her CNA, Casey treated her with incredible gentleness, dignity, and compassion every single visit. She always made sure my grandmother was comfortable and cared for, and she brought such a calm and kind presence into our home during a very difficult time. We are so grateful for the love and respect she showed my grandmother. Truly a 5-star caregiver.

I am a retired Registered Nurse, we can be hard to please when it comes to healthcare. My mother-in-law lived with us for 13 years. She passed away last May, 2025. All the members of the family knew, toward the end, that our time with our loved one was limited. We also felt overwhelmed by the amount of care we were having to provide. With her consent, we decided to enroll her in hospice. It turned out to be a great decision.
The hospice program at UT was exceptional. I had a preconceived notion of what excellence in hospice looked like and UT lived up to every one of those expectations. The care that the whole family received was excellent. The care of the emotional needs not only of the patient, but also of the family , the medical care of the patient, and the availability of service services in the home were top notch.
I would like to recognize Rachel, RN in particular. She was extremely professional, caring, observant, efficient, and knowledgeable . Everything I would want from someone taking care of me. I hope I am so fortunate. If I ever need those types of services for another family member, or for myself, the university of Tennessee hospice program will be my first choice.

I want to thank the nurses of UT Hospice for their care of my Mom during the last 2months of her life. I espeically want to thank Julia for being our Angel and shining her light during our journey of my Mom gaining her angel wings. I appreciated her care, her honesty and compassion she showered on my Mom and myself. Thankyou for your hugs and support thru the hardest time of my life. Saying goodbye to my Mom was made easier because of who you are! Julia is exactly where she needs to be and doing what God has called her to do....She is meant to be a hospice nurse!
