We visited The Village at Incarnate Word to take photos of the residents, and I was blown away by how beautiful the grounds were. The inside was spotless, well-kept, and welcoming. The staff was truly out of this world. You can see the love and care they have for the residents in everything they do. It’s a magical place where people are not only cared for, but genuinely loved. I can’t recommend it enough.

This was one of the worst experiences of my life. I’ve unfortunately dealt with racism before, but this location took it to another level—it truly felt like the headquarters for it. I went in simply to promote my jewelry business and was literally screamed at to “get out” because of my race. Absolutely unacceptable.
I would not recommend this place to anyone who is not white. It’s especially shocking given that it’s located right next to both a university and a church—places where you would expect more open-mindedness, respect, and basic human decency.
No one should ever be treated this way. If I could give a negative star rating, I would. I also plan to reach out to the head of the university connected to this location, as the type of racism they are allowing and promoting toward local customers is disgraceful

My 80-year old mother spent about 2 months in the skilled nursing facility (De Matel House) following a fall. She has been in three other skilled nursing facilities before, but this facility was definitely the cleanest of them all! It never smelled like urine when my brother or I visited and that says a lot. The staff treated my mother very well and she formed strong bonds with several of the aides who helped care for her. The social worker, Connie, was a great resource and we communicated often regarding my mother’s progress.
The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because my mom’s dentures were accidentally thrown away while she was there. She had her dentures in the other facilities as well, but they came up missing at this one. According to my mom, the aide saw them in her room while she was in the dining room, so she brought them to her. It was a nice gesture, but my mom didn’t actually eat with her dentures. It is believed they were likely placed on the tray (wrapped in a paper towel) and thrown away since she didn’t use them. They looked for them in various places the next day, but they were not recovered. When it was reported to the facility, the response was basically, “sorry, but we are not responsible”. I feel there should be tighter procedures in place to help mitigate loss of these types of items because it will cost us at least $2000 to replace them.

Every time I visit staff and leadership team is very nice and welcoming. Lea is amazing and her hospitality is unmeasured. She’s always happy to help with scheduling appointments and directing you to the right people. Mona is remarkable and all the residents love her. She has an incredible heart and helps bring so much joy to everyone there with all the activities she prepares. Every activity is planned with such attention and precision that no one is left without enjoying and having a great time. Lastly, Devona DON is truly one of kind. Her love and compassion for ever family, staff member, and guest is truly unmatched. She’s on top of everything and makes sure that everyone is taking care of to the fullest. The heart her and her staff have for everyone is truly a blessing. The level of care is beyond the roof and everything is very clean and organized. I highly encourage that if you or your loved one is looking for a place to call home, this is it.

Came to the village for a presentation on "Caring for the caregiver". I was able to meet some of the staff who were very professional. The facility was immaculate. The speaker was excellent and the facility provided respite care for my mother who has alzheimers as I took in presentation. The caregivers were great with my mother. A great meal was provided for my mother, myself and other attendees. We were provided with a list of great resources during presentation. I spoke with some residents who all had good things to say about facility. The facility host presentations monthly and I would suggest attending and checking out facility if your are looking for a place for a loved one.
