The first thing I noticed was the quiet sound of birds and the view of the pond through the trees. For a free little park, it felt like a pretty good value because you can get a calm nature walk without making a whole day of it. The trail was easy and short, probably around 20 minutes if you keep moving, with a boardwalk, benches, and a few spots to stop and look around. We stood by the pond for a while watching ducks move through the water, then spotted turtles sunning themselves while a couple of people walked their dogs past us and everyone just kind of gave each other space, which made it feel relaxed. Parking is small, so I can see it filling up at busier times. There is a porta potty near the entrance, which is basic but helpful. No playground, but kids would still have plenty to look at if they like birds, bugs, and water... Bring binoculars if you have them. I came in expecting a quick walk and got a peaceful, low-cost break outside.

Came to Colorado Freedom Memorial to pay my respects to the fallen of my state. This is a very beautiful memorial! The zigzagging plexiglass and steel wall is etched with names, in no apparent order. There's a binder, easy to access, with the names in alphabetical order to explain where on the wall a particular name is located. Near the wall are eight red granite rectangular pillars, one for each country's American cemeteries of WWII dead. France, Netherlands, Philippines, England, Luxembourg...with the number of Colorado dead in each one. An incredible number are buried in the Philippines. There is a spacious covered picnic pavilion. There are restrooms, but they're locked. There is an interactive kiosk next to the stand where the binder is, but it didn't work. The flags were at half-staff.

Came to see this memorial while we were in Aurora. My husband has a friend he served with on the wall here. Was a very beautiful and simple display to pay respect and to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. As a veteran it always hits harder to see these memorials but it's also nice to know those who lost their lives are not forgotten ❤

The memorial is on Telluride just north of 6th ave. I rode by on my way to the Highline Canal Trail. They were still working on the memorial but what is completed is very nice. There is plenty of parking an some covered tables near the south end. Nice spot for a break while on a bike ride.

It was a beautiful morning to be at the Memorial to see the dedication of a Gold Star Memorial that looks over the Colorado Freedom Memorial. Medal of Honor Recipient, Woody Williams was unable to be there due last minute but he will be proud to see that this was his 71st Memorial to be erected. I hope more people come out to reflect at this sacred ground to honor loved ones..
