My mother had great experiences with both the PT and OT staff. Nursing and service folks were wonderful as well. Very attentive and caring.

I can’t say enough about the care my mother received in her last days. She was admitted to the memory care wing (A wing) and had a shared room until she was moved to the “respite room”. The respite room was private and big enough for the family to gather around her for a week before she passed. The nurses, aids and staff were amazing (thank you Rosy and all who cared for my mother). The shared rooms and Jack and Jill bathrooms were worn and dated but clean. Sometime the smell on this wing was pretty bad. It don’t know about the other wings at Birchwood but the Memory Care Wing smell was sometimes overwhelming to me. But I realize it is something that’s really hard to get rid of. Overall our experience was very good. I would much rather have good care for my mother than a pretty room. But the rooms could use an update.

My husband who was very weak and sick went directly from the UVM hospital to rehab at Birchwood. Birchwood advertises themselves as being a “family” and we found that to be the case. Communication between the staff, office managers, and family was excellent. Some days, my husband was too sick to participate in his OT and PT sessions, but they always checked back with him and encouraged him to participate multiple times a day. Their flexibility was tremendously helpful. They also scheduled times around when he was most apt to be awake and feeling strong enough to have OT and PT. We found them to be a dedicated group who really cared about his progress. The LNA’s, PA, Head nurse, nursing staff, social worker, dietician, laundry staff, and just about everyone we met pitched in and did their best to help my husband and our family. Our dog was welcome for visits which was a major plus on many levels, including a psychological boost for my husband as well as really helped with dog care co-ordination at home. Basically, we felt they did an excellent job helping sick people feel comfortable at rehab and to improve. If a bed is available at Birchwood, I would highly recommend them.

Amazing people and incredible care. My husband, Steve, has advanced Alzheimer's and went into Birchwood in August 2021. He loves it there. He tells me the food is great (and he's gained weight - very unlike him) and he says the people are GREAT! Everyone there, staff and patients seem to love him. I was so afraid of this time but none of my concerns have come about.

Grandpa has been at Birchwood Terrace for 3 months and it's been an answer to prayers. The new owners, have done a fantastic job. They hire dedicated staff in all areas. The aids are so loving, skilled and patient. They take amazing care of Grandpa and they have become our family. I love them. Shout out to the kitchen staff make tasty dishes every day! I would highly recommend this facility for your loved ones!!
