I would not recommend Valley of the Sun Mortuary. My services consist of a 2 part service. I contacted this Mortuary the day after my spouse passing, since he had prepaid services. They were to initiate 1st service in Thornton CO, then concluded at the Valley Of The Sun. After several days of absolutely no following up, I contacted Diginity Mortuary in Colorado and together we arrange the services, without Valley Of The Sun's help. I kept following up for services here, only to be informed the assigned funeral director was busy, out of the office and then sick with time off. I called and asked why couldn't this service be released to another director? A week came and went, with no communication. When I called I made the comments that had my spouse didn't have prepaid arrangements, I would go somewhere else. I was told that I was welcomed to do that. Honestly no compassion or taking authority. Due to their incompetence family members were not able to arrange travel arrangements. The service did not go smoothly or as planned. A Deacon was present for the Rosary, Scottishrite was in attendance, however their service was not in the venue as planned. The request to invite the audience to speak on my spouse behalf or myself was never asked. The request for palbers from the crowd was not performed, fresh flowers arrived in time but was not delivered to the venue, cards received and stationery purchased was left behind. The deceased arrived leaning to one side, head not lifted up, sports coat had separated as if it was too small to fit, his hands were no longer folded and no effort was made to correct his presentation to his children. Compared to the services i received in Thornton Colorado at Highland Mortuary Diginity which I would rate 100, Valley Of The Sun Mortuary is rated as a 1 (one) for being incompetent, lack of compassion, unprofessional and refusal to take ownership.

Incredible experience given the circumstances. Everyone was so caring, so knowledgeable, and so patient in going through options for us. They helped make the service/celebration of life for my brother so meaningful and personalized. Simply remarkable.

I am extremely disappointed with our experience at Valley of the Sun Mortuary. Several staff members were passive aggressive and outright rude during interactions with our family, which is unacceptable given the sensitive nature of their work and the grief families are experiencing.
What was most upsetting was that decorations placed for our loved one were thrown away without notice, despite being in approved vases and fully compliant with their stated guidelines. At no point did anyone attempt to contact us, send an email, or otherwise notify family members before discarding these items. They just had a poster poster outside for two weeks. Unfortunately, I am only able to come once a month and missed it. This lack of communication was both hurtful and disrespectful.
Families trust mortuaries to handle not just remains, but memories and tributes with care and compassion. Unfortunately, Valley of the Sun Mortuary failed in this regard. Compassion, professionalism, and basic communication were sorely lacking, and I would strongly caution other families to be aware of this before choosing their services.

Valley of the Sun Mortuary provided exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism during one of the most difficult times a family can face. From the very beginning, they treated us with dignity, patience, and genuine empathy.
I want to give special recognition to Alex Guerrero, who went above and beyond in every possible way. Alex was kind, attentive, and incredibly respectful, taking the time to explain every step clearly and never rushing us. His calm presence and compassion made an overwhelming process feel manageable, and it was clear that he truly cared about honoring our loved one with respect and grace.
Every detail was handled thoughtfully, and our family felt supported throughout the entire process. I am deeply grateful for the care we received and highly recommend Valley of the Sun Mortuary — especially Alex — to anyone needing services during a difficult time.
Thank you for treating our family with such humanity and care.
