DO NOT RECOMMEND! I paid in full on 6/18/25 then was charged on 11/2025 an upcharge as they claim the cemetery fees went up, I paid it. I asked when my son's headstone would be done, I was told they were still waiting on the headstone to arrive to be engraved that was back in Jan. In Feb 2026, my son's headstone was done I called again asking when it will be placed, I was told the concrete needed to be placed that did not happen until March I then inquired when the headstone will be installed that's when Priscilla started to give us the run around. Blaming the cemetery blaming the installer blaming the weather. My husband went to the cemetery to confirm ; it was not the cemetery as they produced emails that Priscilla would make appts for the install then no one would show up. My husband then spoke with David, and he too gave us the run around made us feel like it was our problem and not theirs. We paid for a product that did not get movement on until threats of suing and contacting social/media outlets would get involved. I requested to please have this done by 5/11/26 on my son's 1 year anniversary of his passing. They stated the installers roof at his home got damaged and he would not be able to install by that date. At that point we were done with the lies. I contact the funeral home that help take care of my son she then contacted the cemetery as well as Martus to try and advocate for our family. They attempted to install on 5/12/26 with no pins installed on the headstone therefore they could not place his headstone on this date either. I called Martus again Pricilla said she needed to talk to David and have him call he never called. On 5/14/26 @ 10:36am I was informed my son's headstone was finally installed. I cannot express the amount of pain along with the stress that this has been on my family and I is an understatement. The lack of communication from the beginning to this point has been atrocious. I have reported them to the BBB as well The Funeral Commission. Read the reviews I’m not the only one.

I spent a lot of money with Schlitzberger and Daughters on a monument for my Mom and Dad. My Dad was still alive and only his date of death needed to be put on the monument. When my Dad died I paid Schlitzberger and Daughters over $500 for his date of death to be put on the monument. Martus purchased the business from the Schlitzbergers sometime after I made the final payment. The date was engraved using a different type than the rest of the monument. I asked for the $500 back for unsatisfactory work. David McDowell with Martus told me he needed to talk to the owner. There was no dispute that the final date was different from the rest of the monument. After numerous telephone calls, it became clear that I was getting no money back for the substandard work performed under Martus. These people do not stand behind their work. Don't use them.

I had three monuments ordered from Schlitzberger & Daughters and shortly after the order Martus stone purchased the company. One stone was a going to be a pickup at the Houston location. Well, they would not let me pick it up at the Houston location after Matrus purchased them. I had to drive 3 hrs to elkhart to pick it up. And was not compensated for this. Ordered a double head stone and a bench for my wifes plot that passed in 2024. After it had been ready for months, they could not give me a delivery date. I had to send a hotshot truck to pick up the monuments and last minute tell me all pieces are not at the same location after a truck was sent and on the way. Needless to say, they only had a double head stone to pick up. Two months later after a bench was completed. they still can't tell me when it will be delivered. After spending 15k with this group and having a loved one pass, you would think you would get better customer service. David McDowell and Pricella are the ones that can't give me any answers. Please use a different company to have your Monument made. Customer service is horrible.

I'm so fortunate that I chose the right place to help me with a task that no one wants to do. They took my idea and helped me make it happen for my dad. Thank you!

Fair and realistic pricing with an extensive and unique inventory assure a steady and robust interest in this established business for selecting, designing and /or installing a monument to honor and memorialize a loved one. Having recently orchestrated all the many details of my mother’s funeral, my husband and I wanted to be proactive about ensuring our own wishes would be carried out regarding interment and a monument selection that would reflect our personal taste without burdening family or friends to make those final arrangements after the fact. Kim and her team have consistently proven to be professional, efficient, warm, and responsive in our ongoing interactions with them while guiding us through this arduous task with so many options to consider. Her suggestions and attention to detail proved invaluable and made the process less daunting and truly a creative collaboration. We could not be more pleased with the final result which ultimately captured our collective vision and will serve as a tribute to the lives we have lived and the love that we shared with each other and those friends who enriched our days. Thank you Schlitzberger & Daughters for an incredible experience!
