Mom has been at Mayberry for 18 months now in the safe memory care. It was wonderful in the beginning. Vera was an exceptional loving caregiver. Recently THEY moved mom to a new building and no more Vera. It seems no one cares anymore about mom or her stuff.Everything I have brought to mom disappears including 4 pair of glasses that she needs. Her pictures and treasured books are not out for her to get to since she has little or no use of her hands. Mostly when I pop in she is laying in the dark in her bed or chair just waiting to die. It is heartbreaking

If you were to ask me 2 years ago my review would have been higher but the new management has set the bar for assisted living facilities on the ground. Where to begin. My mother had a stroke in 2004 but lived with my father until he passed. She is physically disabled but otherwise fine. We chose this facility because of its location and the fact it claimed to have physical therapy available as well as activities for the residents.
The new management fired the events coordinator and the therapy company to save money. That did not stop them from wanting to raise rent over $1,000. We declined to renew.
Amongst the laundry list of complaints that I have for this place include, locking the air conditioning unit so that no one could adjust the temperature and setting it at 84 degrees when it is 90 degrees outside, not having a fully working kitchen including not even having a can opener, workers who get into screaming matches that almost turned physical, workers that we had to report multiple times for being rude and disrespectful to my mother, and more. The most flagrant issue was when even after knowing my mother does not have her own power of attorney the new owner tried to get her to sign a document to place her in hospice so that he could milk her for more money. She is nowhere near in need of that.
If you love your mother, do not subject her to this facility. We moved her out as soon as the lease was up. When we packed up her items it was very clear that the staff had neglected to do the routine cleaning of her room which was supposed to be a part of the duties for them. If depressing were personified it would be this facility. I would not wish this place on another person's mother and I am glad to have mine moved out.

My dad was at Mayberry Gardens-Garland from April until July when he passed. My dad was well taken care of and proud to call Mayberry his final home. I believe the “homey atmosphere” is what made this place special as well as my dad delivered meals on wheels here years ago.
If there was a problem, the new owner and management did their best to correct the problem in a timely manner.
I could not have asked for more attentive staff in my dads last days. Those last days are difficult and will be forever grateful to the staff for helping my dad transition thru those last days as well as provide suport for me.
Family isn’t always blood. ❤️

Mayberry Gardens has a very professional team working to make sure that every resident is taken care of. We moved my grandmother from a group home to Mayberry Gardens and she loved it. We were very lucky to find a place that had staff that took pride in their work. The buildings were clean, the home cooked meals were profound, and the other residents seemed so happy. On day one, the other residents welcomed my grandmother to Mayberry. Heather Craddock, the Executive Director, went above and beyond my expectations to make sure that my grandmother received the best care. Heather will work with you on an individual basis to ensure that you are aware of your loved ones needs.

My Mom lived at Mayberry Gardens for 8 years. The staff was very loving and caring. I loved the individual Home atmosphere. The houses were always very clean and never smelled bad like a lot of Nursing Homes do. It was individualized care for each person there.....with 10 persons to a Home. It was more like a normal home. I never dreaded going to visit due to smell or atmosphere. Of course....as most normal people....there were times that something would happen that we didn't like or want. But the staff is always willing to talk with you and work things out to meet your needs. They were more than fair to us and our loved one during her stay there. I would recommend Mayberry to anyone considering placing their Loved One in an Assisted Facility. MAYBERRY GARDENS is the VERY BEST GARLAND HAS TO OFFER.
A big THANK YOU to the Owners and Staff of Mayberry Gardens for the love shown to our Mom. Your kindness is greatly appreciated for the way you treated her during those 8 years residing at Mayberry. Thank You.
