Sand Sage of West Plains Senior Living

Mom has been at Sand Sage of West Plains for three months now and it has just been amazing! It’s a small and super friendly community - mom talks constantly about all of her new friends. The rooms are cozy and all on the same floor with dining room, common area, and even safe outdoor space all just a short walk away. The staff is outstanding - super caring, always eager and quick to help with anything we’ve asked. Activities are low key - karaoke, trivia contests and other games, a Walmart trip every Friday, and onsite worship services on Sunday. It has all combined for a great experience that my mom says, “feels like home.”

If I could zero give stars I would had give that. My dad was in there for 8 1/2 months. They start off great then they change directors and it went down hill from there. They keep raising the price and try to kick my dad out without a notice. They found a loop hole and got him out. They didn't care about my dad. All they want from him was money. Unfortunately he went downhill and he passed away the fall of 2022. I think, they are a big contributor why he went down and passed away. They didn't do what home health recommend to keep him well. He had sores and they didn't keep them clean or doctor them. I would not put my worst enemy in this place. Very sad and disappointed how he got treated. 😞

I am the guardian/conservator for my brain-injured brother-in-law who has called Emerald Square home for over five years. During that time, he has enjoyed a wonderful facility with very diligent staff who have gone above and beyond to ensure he is well cared for. I would recommend this facility without reservation. The new executive director, Tina Elliott, is committed to ensuring a top notch experience for all residents.

I’ve been visiting Emerald Square for the past several months and have really noticed a market improvement in the quality of programming and dining services. In fact lunch last week was on par with some great restaurants in OKC. The community is clean and the residents are very engaging.

*Please notice most of the positive reviews are from staff members, NOT residents or family members.* If you care about your loved one you will keep them far away from this facility. They have rude, untrained staff members in every position, the food is awful, the building is in disrepair, medications mysteriously disappear, and safety is an ongoing issue. A resident was recently killed on busy Council Road due to inattentive staff and an unauthorized exit. Almost every assisted living in the OKC area is better than this one; save your loved one from the poor living conditions at Emerald Square and continue your search.
