One of the most beautiful catholic churches in Baton Rouge. Old, interesting interior. The main attraction, however, was a great priest who delivered a great sermon to a great group of congregants. I reccomended going to mass here and saying some prayers, you just might receive a blessing!

This church is internationally known for its iconography which to me is just plain frightening. Some kind of alien Jesus painted in green and gold tones with deep reds commands the ceiling of the main altar area with post modern painted Angel's flanking the side altars. The interior has calming deep blue abstract stained glass windows and exposed beams supporting the roof. The church has an excellent sound system that solves the echo problems and a great organ to fill the volume with music

This church is truly a gem in Baton Rouge. We had been looking for a church to call home for a while and decided to give Sacred Heart a try. The church itself is incredibly beautiful and looks like it should be a cathedral. The atmosphere is so holy and prayerful that even with 3 children who are 4 years old and younger, I am always able to maintain a prayerful and reverent spirit throughout the entire mass. This is so refreshing as it has been stressful to take our children to mass in the past. The pastor and deacon are both wonderful people who were so friendly towards us, and are obviously very loved by the parish. We were also blown away by how friendly and kind the parishioners are. We had so many people come up and introduce themselves and talk with us. We are not used to staying around the church after the mass talking with people, and we ended up staying for a while each time we’ve been there talking with different people. It was impossible not to feel at home here, and each week we look forward to going back.
