Went to cemetery today. My son’s grave marker is missing. He died at 5 months in 93. His father died in October 2025. Dead grass marks his spot. I’ve heard they take up markers to prevent damage. Eight months later and they haven’t replaced the marker or been able to grow grass. They sure don’t mind charging you for every little thing possible. The least they can do is keep up the grounds.

Pinecrest was the best in planning and working with our family with all the obstacles we faced. Having my Aunt transferred from Mississippi to Alabama and working with the family during our I e storm . Having to have multiple cancellations because of our traveling with the ice storm that we were dealing with in Mississippi. Their whole staff was phenomenal in helping us plan everything for my Aunts internment at Pine Crest Cemetery. Thanks to all of your great staff.

On the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States Marine Corps (I'm posting this review on November 10th, 2025), I wanted to share some pictures that I took while passing through Mobile in October 2025. Pinecrest Cemetery is the final resting place of Marines, and featured characters of The Pacific, Sidney Phillips and Eugene Sledge. The Pacific features Mr. Phillips' experience during the battle of Guadalcanal in 1942, and Dr. Sledge's later experience during the battles of Peleliu and Okinawa in 1944 and 1945, respectively. Following the war, Dr. Sledge would go to write perhaps the greatest WWII memoir ever published, "With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa". As somebody who never served in uniform, I'm extremely thankful that Dr. Sledge wrote his memoir in such detail that people like me can appreciate what these men went through, and the suffering they endured to ensure that others like myself can live in freedom and peace. God bless Mr. Phillips and Dr. Sledge, as well as all other Marines who served with such distinction and honor. Happy 250th Birthday Marines!

Well we didn’t have a funeral, we had the celebration of my husband’s life. He was cremated. Everyone at Pincrest Funeral Home was so kind. I was so amazed as to the coordinators style. She came to our home and got an idea who he was. She nailed it! They catered the food, which was awesome. They decorated the tables. My husband would have loved his services. While there I sign up for a service like him.

Although newer than some of Mobile's historic cemeteries, Pine Crest is no less beautiful. Wonderfully maintained grounds and landscaping. The mausoleum and chapel features stunning stained glass and bronzework adorning the niches. Very peaceful here. Pine Crest is the final resting place of Dr. Sidney Phillips and Eugene Sledge, two Mobile natives featured in the HBO series "The Pacific." Both men went on after the war to achieve great things.
