I was A funeral coordinator for five years at one of our large Catholic churches in town. I dealt with the people at the Shrine Of Remembrance many many times over those years. And I can say I was always treated with respect and kindness. The families who were utilizing Shrine Of Remembrance were treated the same way. I would highly recommend this family owned business to anyone.

I stopped in recently with my family during a very difficult time. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Rather than showing compassion or concern for what our family was going through, the owner spent much of the conversation talking about himself, his accomplishments, his possessions, and his funeral home. We felt unheard and unimportant during a time when empathy should have been the priority. His demeanor came across as aggressive, dismissive, and completely lacking in compassion. On the bright side, at least I got to hear all about his new Mercedes. Apparently that was more important than listening to a grieving family. A funeral home should be focused on helping people through one of the hardest moments of their lives, not serving as a stage for someone's ego. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend this funeral home to anyone. I wouldn't bury a goldfish there.

My mother passed away and the Shrine of Remembrance did an excellent job taking care of my father and I. Their Olympian Plaza Reception Center (which is directly across the street from the main chapel, crematory, and mausoleum) is exquisite. The food and facility is excellent. I also learned they have been hosting the Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society there every second Sunday of the month for over 15 years. It’s comforting knowing that the cremation is done on property by their staff - unlike other crematories my friends and relatives have worked with in the past. Their director Matthew, staff, and chefs took the time to properly serve our family and gave my father peace of mind during a difficult time. I have been to other funeral parlors and receptions and they just do not compare. I would highly recommend their services.

Through the years I've attended many funerals at several different funeral homes in and around Colorado Springs. The Shrine of Remembrance stands out from the rest. After attending another service there recently, I engaged one of their staff members and asked a few questions as I was curious what they do to make it so very special. The biggest take away was learning that the vast majority of the funeral homes in the area are owned by corporations from out of state. The Shrine of Remembrance as a family owned and operated funeral home has the ability to be much more flexible in serving the needs of the families they serve. In fact, there are three generations of the family members working there. If you know anything about small family run businesses, you know this is a rarity. The other important take away was that The Shrine of Remembrance cares for the departed in house, meaning weather the request for the departed is to be buried in a casket or cremated, the preparation and care for the loved one never leaves the custody of the funeral home staff. I was surprised to learn that with the corporate owned funeral homes in many cases, departed loved ones actually go to a central location for preparation. Given the recent horrific news about some funeral homes in the state of Colorado, this gave me much comfort. If you haven't been to the Shrine of Remembrance, loved ones can also have their final resting place there. Their mausoleums, and columbarium's are beautiful as are the surrounding grounds. As I'm getting up in years, I was glad to have this conversation. When you're considering either your own future arrangements, or assisting with a family member's needs, I strongly suggest reaching out to the Shrine of Remembrance.

From the moment we arrived at Shrine of Remembrance we received genuine kindness, professionalism, and compassion. During such a difficult time, the staff made everything feel calm, organized, and handled with the utmost care and respect. We never felt rushed, and we felt that our loved one was treated with dignity throughout the entire process. The funeral home and chapel are absolutely beautiful. We found it to be very well-kept, and comforting during moments of grief. I am deeply grateful for the compassion, professionalism, and warmth shown by everyone at the Shrine of Remembrance. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring team and a beautiful place to say goodbye.
